In Sam8, Jamstix counts as follows (when playing along with the sequencer), but only for the first two measures.
1.1, 1.2., 1.3, 1.4, 1.1, 2.2, etc... (Bar.Beat)
I hope that was clear.
Is this normal? |

Sounds right except the 2nd 1.1 should be 2.1. When going from the 1st to the 2nd bar, Jamstix has to adjust quite a few things internally since hosts handle song positioning differently as well as to support time sig changes which VST/SPP doesn't really support. This shouldn't really have any audible impact though. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| I can make a vid of the screen and send it to you so you can see what I mean, if you would like. |

Not necessary, I think I know what you're saying. This should be only cosmetic, though. You shouldn't hear anything different. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I sent you an email with a small .wmv so you could see it. |

I can duplicate this when the VIP buffer and number of buffers is relatively high.
For VSTi work in general, you will want the VIP buffers relatively small. I'd think this to be true for any VSTi, not just JamStix...
Try doing VIP buffer = 512 using 3 buffers and see how it goes. If you can go smaller, great! I normally use 128 or 256 on my 3.2 GHz machine for VSTi work and then kick it up to 2048 for mixing.
The nice thing about Samp 8 is it supports buffering profiles. So you can set one up with small buffers and call it JamStix and another with large buffers and call it mixdown or whatever, and then just recall them for whatever task you want to do!
Also - you may notice tighter timing in JS with the small VIP buffers. I definitely like it best when they're small, JS sounds really right when they're small. |

Much appreciate your help, Sekim, as always! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks Sekim. I'll give that a try.
BTW, Ralph, I just pre-purchased Natural Sound Studios NS7Kit full.

Could Jamstix be configured to take advantage of this mapping? |

We'll have to make code changes for that since NS7Full requires use of the mod wheel to change sample use. Once it's out and we get a lot of requests, we may put in the work and release an update with this. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

That sounds great. I've been using the free version of NS7kit for some time. One of the best sounding sampled drum kits I've ever heard. |
