Hi.

Frustrated user here. Love the new interface, I'm finding Jamstix 3 more user-friendly than ever before, but OY, am I having issues!

i7 quad core, Samplitude 11.

Adjust kit to my liking, space out the instruments the way I want, save kit carefully -- change any individual piece or reload that kit, positioning completely scrambled upon reload.

Construct song, adjust different drummers for different sections, blah blah blah, save song carefully -- reload wipes all my drummer changes and sets it to Intro drummer, and ignores any new section additions, taking it back to what looks like an early setpoint. And, oh yeah, kit positioning scrambled again.

Think I'm going to like Jamstix 3 quite a bit when all the kinks are worked out, I just wanted to make sure somebody else had squawked about this so that these issues were on somebody's To Do list. I couldn't find a page where all the current reported issues are listed. Happy to give more detail if needed.

Cheers.

Smile

No reports of this issue from anyone else. Do you have another host to compare? Anyone else with Samp 11 see this?

Hmmm, well that's disquieting at first glance. But the behavior seems to be replicated in Reaper. So that suggests that I might be doing something wrong in my saving of songs or configuring of my kits.

I'm doing a slow read through the manual, and it doesn't seem like it's possible to frack up like this, but maybe I'm overlooking some "locks" or some such. The manual, for instance, mentions at the bottom of page 13 that a left click on the "kit labels" will enable one to toggle kit-loading on and off, but I've left-clicked on every kit label I can find and am not getting this option.

Perhaps a reinstall of the main app is in order.

Let's dig deeper into the save issue first. All you are doing is saving the main project in Samp 11, right? Then you close/reopen it and Jamstix shows changes in styles/drummers and kits. Is that correct?

Hi Ralph. Smile

No, no, this problem refers to saving the Song in JS3. The straight project save seems to work fine. Sorry for the misimpression. I'm thinking of future projects in which I'll want to use a close parallel of the drum/player/structure setup in this project.

I switched to the beta to see if it would help, and it seems to load different drummers for different sections properly. But the song length is still loading incorrectly.

Here's what I'm doing.

Okay, brand new tune in Samp11, brand new instance of JS3.

Choose 8th Rock. Choose Charlie. Go to Song Wizard. Add L for "Link" after the first two choruses (the scenario from the song I'm working on). Create song. Change player for the choruses to John. Save song. Remove JS3.

New instance of JS3. Load song. Song doesn't seem to match length properly; seems a bit short. The second "Link" has disappeared. Go to Wizard. In order to recreate proper song length, I hit "Create Song" -- how else? Song now lengthens to what was stipulated before the Save. At that point the drummers are wiped to all become what appears to be maybe the intro drummer, but I get the feeling that's Operator Error, not locking or unlocking something.

As far as the config error when loading a personally configured kit, it seems to only load the toms wrong. They're invariably moved to a kind of arc in the middle of the screen, and I have to move them back. This occurs whether I save or load with "Lock" on or off. (Btw, I love the ability to move the kit around. The fact that the drummer will just stop playing it if a piece is moved too far away is just inspired. And hilarious.)

It's not just Samp11 for me. This behavior is mirrored in Reaper.

Thanks for your help! Smile

Everytime you hit 'Create Song', your current song gets wiped out. It's meant to be used as a starting point.

The kit position resetting is something we need to fix.

I'll also look into 'Save Song' not saving parts as described in your step-by-step.
