|

Yes, I know, another inquiry about this, but what I read already is rather confusing... I just ordered the JS3 upgrade, so, while waiting for my new licence mail, I would like more informations about the upgrade process to avoid making a mess. So, here is my situation :
I have Jamstix 2.5.2 with both XL and Metal packs installed. And I would basically like to be able to use the sounds and kits I already have at my disposal with JS3, this with getting rid of all JS2 related files and folders. So :
1) It seems that JS3 stock kits are different from the JS2 ones. How can I use the JS2 stock sounds and the kits related in JS3 without having to keep a Jamstix2 folder ?
2) Should I install the XL and Metal packs again, or is there a way to avoid this ?
3) What are the files presently in the jamstix2\data that can be safely transferred and used under JS3 ?
4) Can I safely uninstall JS2 after the installation of JS3 (and, if needed, the packs) ?
Thanks. |

- install JS3
- install JS3 stock kits
- click 'JS2 Migration Tool' in JS3 Options
- copy all rzd files from jamstix2\data\sounds to jamstix3\data\sounds
If you have any custom grooves, saved fills, maps or kits in JS2 then you can copy those files from their respective place in jamstix2\data to the same folder in JS3. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

So, I received my licence mail and installed JS3 and the two JS3 stock kits. Then I used the 'Migration tool' but, I don't know why, only the Metal pack was detected, not the XL one.
So, I took the plunge and reinstalled all the kits I have, including the JS2 one, with the 'Install pack' feature in the 'Kits' pane. Then, I copied the kits, among other things, from the JS2 installation. Sucsess : everything is working as expected, and I must say that I'm impressed with the overall quality of what's available.
I have now a 'Sounds' folder with about 6900 .rzd files : guess that it will keep me busy for a while, creating kits with the new sounds here...
I have suggestions about the new GUI, but it will be the subject of another thread... Ralph, keep on the good work ! |
