OK, I got problems again.
Everything was fine after installing the new DLL. But then I tried playing Jamstix3 via another plug in. The problems are:
1. Having selected a plug in, JS3 made no sounds at all. Also, I was unable to de-select the plug in or try another - I was just stuck with the non-sounding plug in.
2. Having removed and then reloaded JS3 into my host DAW, I decided not to try another plug in, but simply to use JS3 kits. But when I loaded a kit+style+drummer, I found that JS3 no longer kept proper time. Yes, the drums sounded, and yes, the program played a sort of pattern, but the timing was out.
I quit my DAW and started again but the problem remained. And so, having cured the original problem, I now have it back again. Trying to load a plug in into JS3 seems to have triggered this - at least that's my impression.
Would uninstalling/re-intalling help? |

Please tell me the host and what you mean exactly with 'playing Jamstix3 via another plug in'. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph,
Sorry to hassle you.
The host is Cakewalk's Sonar Home Studio.
I was messing around with some free drum plugins. JS3 allows you to load a plugin and use its drum sounds.
I loaded a plugin called 'DR-Fusion' and selected a preset from it, but no sounds were forthcoming. I reloaded a JS3 kit but JS3 no longer kept time or played a proper (i.e. coherent/sophisticated) groove/pattern.
I quit Sonar Home Studio and made the above post.
Strange, to say, when I booted up Home Studio this morning and loaded JS3, it seemd to work OK. And so I repeated what I'd done before.
I loaded the DR-Fusion plugin. This time I was able to select a preset and JS3 played fine.
But when I reloaded a JS3 kit after using the DR-Fusion plugin, I found that I got the same problem as described above: namely, that JS3 wouldn't keep time or play in its usual coherent and sophisticated manner.
To be honest, I don't really need to use plugins with JS3. The program has more than enough high-quality drum sounds. I was only playing around and seeing what JS3 could do . . .
In other words, I'd be happy not to have the plugin feature but with JS3 playing properly. |
