Ralph- quick question. I know this has been asked before, but my searches were fruitless. How are the JS2 samples recorded, are they stereo samples or mono? As well has there been any compression or eq applied to the recorded samples? My guess is no or very little, but I wanted to satisfy my curiosity.

JS2 and JS3 samples come in two variants: close-stereo and ambient-stereo (CS and AS).

For normal kits, Jamstix uses one channel of the CS signal (for a close mono sound) plus the ambient stereo. If you load a kit with CS at the end then it uses only the CS signal in full.

Samples are not compressed in any way. There is some EQing, such as HPF on cymbals to cut out rumble etc. CS kick signals are often EQd as well. But EQ is generally kept to the absolute minimum.

Do you forsee any phase issues summing the close stereo samples to mono? The reason I am asking all of this is because I have recently purchased Reason & Record, and I am going to be composing all of my drum parts sub-hosted in Sonar 8. I'll then taking the individual outs into their own tracks in Record. In record I can control the width of stereo tracks in the SSL channel strip.

i don't think you will have phasing issues.
