Hi There,

First of all, many thanks for a fantastic product. Jamstix is amazing. And many thanks, too, for the free upgrade to Jamstix3.

OK, I just installed Jamstix3 but when I try to use it, it won't play in time. In other words, the groove is erratic and rarely onbeat.

Maybe I have done something wrong?

I still have Jamstix2 installed - should I have uninstalled this before installing Jamstix3?

My system is:
xp SP3
AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core processor 6000+
3GHz
3GB RAM
AV = Kaspersky
Midi sequencer/Host: Cakewalk's Sonar Home Studio 7

And so, at present, I can't use Jamstix3. Please ould you help? Many thanks in advance!

As mentioned earlier JS2 has to be uninstalled prior JS3 installation. That will solve your problem

Hi There,

Thanks for the replies.

OK, I uninstalled Jamstix3 and Jamstix2. Then I re-installed Jamstix3. But the problems remain: Jamstix3 won't play in time. In fact, sometimes it doesn't play at all or only intermittently.

The thing is, Jamstix2 performed perfectly on my system. But Jamstix3 is currently unusable. Just to clarify: even after uninstalling Jamstix2, Jamstix3 is not working properly.

Jamstix 2 and 3 can co- exist, so that is not the problem.
What is the latency of your host?

Hi Doc and thanks for this.

OK, my host latency settings are currently set at:

44kHz/stereo 1393.2 msec with Buffers set at '16'. Could this be at the root of the problem? Thanks in advance for help.

This is very long. How much is it in samples?
I had a similar problem when testing JS3 RC1 with a similar high latency.
Ralph advised me to bring down the latency below 1024 samples.
after doing so the problem was gone.

1392ms is too much latency for JS3. Please reduce to 50ms or less.

Hi Ralph and many thanks for the prompt reply. OK, will comply with your guideline on latency. Thinking back, I had to mess about with the latency settings to stop constant dropouts when recording some audio. I can change them back no problem. Thanks again - much appreciated.

UPDATE: OK, I changed the latency settings in my host (lowest I could get is 92.9 msec). But now I get no sound from Jamstix3 at all - total silence. The program loads OK and seems to be processing data, but no sounds are forthcoming.

OK, I've tried different latency settings and I can't get Jamstix3 to work. At the moment it's totally silent.

Please load a quickstart song and see if they are silent for you.

Hi Ralph,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I tried Quickstart Songs but they are silent too.

I've now installed JS3 several times and tried different latency settings. When I first installed JS3 it created sounds but the timing was way out and the patterns were erratic. This situation deteriorated with each fresh install. Now there are no sounds at all.

Load a quickstart song and then see if you have any 'missing sound' messages in the kit window.

Hi Ralph,

Thanks again. Yes, having loaded a Quick Start Song, it seems I have 34 sounds missing.
