Have just downloaded the 3.0.0 release and was trying to get it working on my different Windows Parallel 5 VM's (XP Pro and 7 Ultimate) on a i5 quadcore iMac 27 with a ATI Radeon HD 4850.

Installing and licensing was easy, but when i open JS3 in Live 8.1 then on both the above mentioned VM's the Kit UI (in the main panel on the right) refuse to open with "UI Update Error (Access Violation at Address 2675C567 in Module "Jamstix3.dll"." The rest of this error code doesn't fit in the window.

So i cannot install any Pak to check the new features. Does this mean that JS3 isn't able to run in Parallels VM's or is the downloaded .exe file corrupt?

I just had the same problem. After inspecting the rzdlog file I had a hunch it was a problem with the Parallels shared "My Documents" folder. I uninstalled J3, de-activated the shared documents folder, re-installed J3 and it worked fine. So my hunch is either the shared "My Documents" path resolves to being too long or J3 just can't deal with it. Either way, I hope this can help you get up and running and help Ralph to troubleshoot and fix the bug if he wants to support Parallels.

You've got mail, Ralph.

Seems that bvesco is right. I can see the UI errors in the log file, here is one entry (it's from the XP VM):

<2164><9.3> Bad UIA File C:\Programme\jamstix3\data\skin\\\.psf\Home\Documents\Jamstix3\kit.js3gui.js3gui
<2164><9.3> UI Error:Access violation at address 2675C567 in module 'jamstix3.dll'. Read of address 00000057 [PROC GUI PLogic] LS:EOPL

I'll try to reproduce bvescos workaround tonight.
