Hello, now that JS3 release has been announced I have a question: I have preordered JS3, and I already have JS2 with XL-Pak, Bonzo Pak and Metal Pak.

Do I need to reinstall something apart from the final JS3 plugin engine to have a complete JS3 setup?

I mean, is there a new JS3 sound bank to download and install and if so have I bought it by preordering?

Thanks,
Mario

If you have JS2 installed, JS3 has a migration tool to copy BonzoPak, MetalPak and Jamcussion kits, styles and drummers to your JS3 installation. The samples would be automatically used from the JS2 install.

Alternatively, you can just reinstall the Paks in JS3.

JS3 itself comes with a new stock kit that is included with every pre-order.

Thank you.

I suppose that if I want to migrate an existing project I have to save the song data from JS2 and load it in JS3, right?

Thanks,
Mario

That is correct. I recommend this procedure to replace JS2 with JS3 in a project:

- load project and save JS2 data via "Save Song As"
- remove JS2
- save project file (but keep copy of old file)
- reload new, saved project file and add JS3
- load saved song file into JS3

What about the other kits (ie snarepak, epak, etc)? ie I have everything except Bonzo..

My goal is to uninstall\delete anything from previous Jamstix versions once I have 3 installed so will there be some info in the manual about safely upgrading without losing (or having to reinstall) things?

If you want to uninstall JS1 or JS2 at some point, then you need to run all your Paks through JS3's 'Install Pak'. That's it.
