I just can't replicate the problem you are describing. I've done as suggested in your email and edited a hihat note while checking the CC value reported in BFD. There was never a discrepancy, neither was there in MIDI export. What host are you using and how do you check the reported CC4 value exactly?

Here are simple steps to reproduce what I'm saying:

1) Open REAPER 3.4;
2) Create a new empty project;
3) "Insert new virtual instrument on track...";
4) Add JS3 Beta A16 (or any beta I've tried) and select ´no´ (makes no difference);
5) Go to MIXER tab and select ´MIDI Only´;
6) Add a MIDI monitor after JS in the chain, I used the built-in ReaControlMIDI;
7) Add a ´Hihat Closed piece -> Subhost´in the kit tab (lovely to have this option by the way);
8) Now audit hihat articulations and check the MIDI monitor log.

No matter I have all articulations with a key selected or not, I have never received any value to CC4 except 127. In fact, if I set Closed Hat Variations to normal or extreme, it varies the CC4 value (when auditioning closed hat only), but in any other case, I only receive ´channel 1 value 127´. I'm about to try with subhost again, although this is not the way I'll use it. But my MIDI out behaves the same consistently.

Of course it's not the MIDI monitor that is reporting the wrong value, Superior Drummer does not behave as expected in the chain.

Using your steps I see proper CC4 values matching the knob position in JS3 in the REAPER MIDI monitor. Have just sent you a screenshot.

Ralph-

I am at a crossroads right now. I am considering one of the quad core I-Macs and Jamstix is kind of holding me back from making the move. (it is that integral to my songwriting) Do you have any ETA when we may see at least a beta version for osx?

I'm sorry but there is no ETA for JS/OSX beta at this time.

Have you (or anyone in the forum) run Jamstix on a windows install through Boot Camp on a Mac? I imagine that it would run as well as it would on a windows PC. Any thoughts there?

No difference from regular Windows install. I have even tried it in a VM - which isn't as great as native (there is extra latency), but it works.

Ralph initially stated that he hoped/expected to have the OSX version out in 2010. Even if we allow for the inevitable development slips, my guess is it won't be all THAT long to wait.

I have a macbook pro with bootcamp win xp running jamstix through a SONAR 5. I only use jamstix to generate the midi track, and then i copy the file to my pro tools in Leopard.

But to answer your question, it works fine with bootcamp, at least for me. Also i have addictive drums running at the same time. No prob.

Awesome- I may still go that route. I'm giving my wife my laptop, and I need to buy a copy of Windows 7 anyway...this works out great.

Macbook Pro + Bootcamp Win XP here.
Jamstix runs on Ableton Live 8 with no problem.
Windows on a Mac isn´t bad at all BTW, in fact it´s lightning- fast.
The licence money for the ability to run JS (and a few other PC only apps) was very well spent.

RC1 is now out with new drummers and styles and various fixes. Please report any showstoppers ASAP, this is the final stretch!
