A relatively early attempt at using Jamstix. No drum manipulation/programming was done, JS is in jam mode... any suggestions or thoughts on the mix? I'm new to mixing and not sure I "get" it.

Thanks in advance!

I think with some practice using JS, you'll get the sound you're looking for. I like some of the ideas in the tune... kind of a dark blues thing almost soundtrack style. Keep it up.

Thanks for the feedback! The tune has some moments I really like... it's a little long, perhaps. I'm glad you enjoyed some of its ideas.

Right now I'm not sure how much most other people hand edit the stuff created by Jamstix vs letting it improvise completely, leaving it's creation alone.

The basic Bonham sound is something I really like - not sure if the drums are a little too forward in the mix though or not. I'm still trying to figure out "space" in mixes.

Also, while I don't want an overly loud, compressed sound (aka The Loudness Wars on modern CDs), I do find this mix and my others to be a lot quieter than other mixes I hear generally - including the Reverb Nation and SoundClick songs posted here. Any thoughts, anyone?

Apologies, the original link may have been confusing since it goes to the artist page, but the songs playing are from the "radio" so they could have been anything....

This is a direct link to the song:

http://radio3.cbc.ca/play/band/Vaudeville-Ventriloquists/silverfaceblues

or a direct short link:

edit: the "permalink" seems to have changed... not very "perma"nent Sad
