Hi Ralph

I know you're busy with JS3 but I hope this is a simple question.

Could you explain the difference between a JS groove file and a typical midi file.

The reason I ask is I'm wondering if there is a way to extract the quantize groove timing of a e.g beat midi file and use Jamstix to construct a beat locked into the exact same quantized timing. Is a JS groove file more related to the timing rather than the hits (I know this is a long shot)?

Perhaps you know another way to acheive this?

Some may ask why do this? If I could prepare a 8-16 bar midi part with the feel/timing I wanted but get Jamstix to enhance this it would go a long, long way to ending up with a drum track locked into the exact feel that I want....

Thanks

JS groove files are similar to MIDI files. My recommendation for you is to create your MIDI groove and then use the 'Import' style with a drummer model to vary that groove. Set the timing variation of the drummer to zero to avoid the timing of your groove to be modified.
