| So... this is probably a RTFM question, but how do I use the SSD kits in reaper/JS2? |

Well, that seems to be the most reliable method. For whatever reason, templates don't work for me in Reaper.
For those who don't know or are as dopey as I am:
- Make a track in reaper and load JS into it.
- Set JS2 to Midi Only in the mixer window
- Load an SSD drum mapping in JS, pick your drummer and style
- Make a new track, and load Kontact into it.
- Load a kit in Kontact
- Set the I/O for track one (JS) to send all to track two (Kontact). Untick track one's Master/Parent send.
Kontact now plays the JS midi sends.
The downside to this is that I don't have the faders in Reaper's mixer. All the drum effecting and eqing has to be done in Kontact but I'm sure there's a way around that - Only have two faders - one overall for JS2, and one for Kontact.
Ok, the trick to THAT:
- Load JS to a single track as per above.
- load Kontact as a VSTi selecting the desired number of outs.
- mess around in Kontact to work out how to send things to the outputs. Still working on that.
Subhosting the DLL doesn't seem to be ideal in my experience so far. If I close the "Configure VSTi" window accidentally, I can't seem to get it back (although I see the "stay on top" button now - nope still disappears), and I haven't worked out how to multi-out the Kontact player yet under subhosting . |

If you load the track template i linked above you will have all the individual drum sounds on their own tracks in REAPER.
The template lives here
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\REAPER\TrackTemplates
In Reaper you load the template as follows
insert/track from template/ SSD EX multi out.
Now if the template loads without the lazy hybrid kit or you want to load your choice of kit, after loading the new kit you'll need to go to the mixer view in Kontakt and hit the "Reset out map" button, now you'll have control over the different kit pieces in the Reaper mixer.
On a different note, if you just want to have JS sent midi info to SSD you can do this on the same track!
Just load SSD after JS in the FX slot in reaper, you'll still need to set js to send midi only of course. This way SSD will still play what JS creates but you don't need to have an extra track or set up sends etc, but you'll be stuck with a stereo output.
Hope you get it working, the multi out that is

| Yeah, nah, the track templates don't load for me at all. |
