JS will use two feet for kicks as set in the brain/bar editor but both feet will trigger a single kick sound/MIDI key specified in the kit.

I just got SSD EX for $20.

Having issues.

JS can not find Kontakt.dll. I'm using REAPER; reaper can find and load Kontakt just fine, kits are loaded etc... Just can not get JS2 to find the SSD samples.

I am able to send JS2 midi to a track with Kontakt w/SSD, seems to work ok. However, I would like to work inside of JS2. If this is my only option, what are the drawbacks?

I've reloaded Kontakt. I've tried to "load kit" in JS but can not find Kontakt.dll, only the Kontakt.exe file is there and can not load inside JS. Did a search and can not find the kontakt.dll file??? Also, tried the "sub-host" feature on the JS kit page, and could not load.

How is this possible, when Reaper can find and load/run Kontakt as a "vsti". Am I missing someting obvious? Wish SSD had a simple way to get to the samples.

I'm about ready to stop and just keep using JS samples, which are very good.

When JS says it can't find the .dll file, just point it to the Kontakt folder, and pick the appropriate subfolder in there (either the 32 bit or 64 bit version - I recommend the 32 bit because I don't think the 64 will play with Jamstix) and the pick the kontakt.dll file in that folder... DONE!

Tried that. But, it there does not seem to be a file that is compatible in the Kompat folder, like it didn't install. I'm getting sounds using JS2 midi out, so I'm happy for now.

Guess this is a Kontakt 3 issue.

Should I have no kit loaded if just going MIDI out into Kontakt/SSD on another track. I'm satisfied with doing this. Any tips on doing MIDI out?

JamesBlue: The Kontakt dll that Jamstix is looking for should be in your vstplugins folder.
I am using JS a lot in midi out only mode now. I use it with SSD and an Alesis DM5 and even a Roland D110. These sounds just seem to suit the music I end up creating.
My tip would be to make a track template in reaper that brings up JS with just the SSD mapping loaded: then have another track template for Kontakt/SSD. Just to save time.
The latest version of the Kontakt free player is V4 by the way - not the 3.5 that came with SSD no brainer.

I guess I had just never noticed this prior to using the SSD samples, since I was triggering my kicks and not making any use of the velocity information.

Anyway, I'm not sure what you mean as a solution. I can obviously adjust all of the kick patterns manually to alternate feet, but even with core bars that can be a pain in the ass if I've got a whole song using fast kicks.

Is there something in the brain (or anywhere else) I can set to prefer two feet for sixteenth notes, or any other option that accomplishes the same thing?

Easiest solution in JS3 is to extract 'Double Bass' from 'Freestyle' into your current style via the brain menu. That element will automatically spread kick notes across the feet.
