Trying jamstix (great program) with Ableton Live.
How do I record the midi output from Jamstix into another midi track?
Nothing I do seems to work

I'd really like to know this, too....

I'm afraid the answer is -- you can't. As soon as you drag a VSTi onto a MIDI track, it changes the MIDI OUT to AUDIO OUT. There may be a work-around by hosting Jamstix in a stand-alone VST host and routing the MIDI out and back into Live using MIDI Yoke or something similar, though it's too much of a hassle. It's easier just to route Jamstix straight to an audio track and just record it all. Any other ideas?

Sekim wrote a MIDI Router DLL for use with Jamstix. It's available on our downloads page. You can load it into Jamstix like a drum module and it will route the Jamstix output to a system MIDI port.

Brilliant!! Thanks so much for your help. I loaded drummer.dll as the external VST in Jamstix, sent the MIDI out to MIDI Yoke NT 1, set the MIDI IN on the SS2 track to MIDI Yoke NT 1, and loaded a drum kit into Part 1 of SS2. Works like a charm! I'll be sure to let you all know when I finish my first SS2+JS song. Until then, you can listen to my previous work at www.soundclick.com/chisel316.

Peace Out \/

Thanks to Sekim for making the MIDI Router and letting us all have it for free!

Hi Zauni
using Live and jamstix 4-8 with drummer.dll as external VST.
I use the same routing as Chisel and can record midi output OK. However if I load battery into the midi channell and set midi in to Midi Yoke NT1 the timing is all over the place although the recorded midi file is OK except for the first beat.
Also if I try and load a Live set incorporating jamstix and the drummer.dll it loads Jamstix and all its samples but freezes when trying to load drummer.dll.
This also happens if I use Battery as an external VST within Jamstix
Any thoughts

I'm afraid I don't have a quick answer for this. This is odd stuff. We'll look into it.
