Hey Jon,
Congrats on the album!
I was just wondering, why did you use JamStix?
You have a bass player and to me, a real person on the drums would be the way to go for the style of music that you're playing. JamStix is great but nothing compares to rocking out with a full band. Do you play anywhere live at all?
As for me, I generally work alone these days and at odd hours because of family (I see you have a couple of kids). Not being a great drummer or knowing any locally doesn't help either! |

kram_0,
Thanks!
Even though I know a lot of drummers that could lay down tracks for me, it's not really worth it because I don't play out anymore. I can lay down the jamstix tracks quicker than rehearsing and recording with a drummer. Also, I don't have the room or the mics to get the same quality sound out of live drums as I can get from Jamstix. And the bassist is a friend that just comes to lay down tracks when I need him. I'm planning to do the bass myself also as soon as I get around to buying a bass.

Hey brother,
Nice stuff, and I'm more pop-oriented, so that says something about how listenable this is. I'm taking a small break from leading one and partially leading another worship team, I hope to find time to write and record more myself.
I kinda like the Jamstix drums for this, they're kinda raw (compared to my other drum samplers). If I could make a suggestion, based on my working with Jamstix. If you could tighten up the timing (either tighten the drummer, put it ahead or behind the beat more depending on the song), that might help some. I recognize some of the same fills I had in one song of mine, and tightening up the beat helped them to fit in the song better.
