| I may have a new issue ... for example, when I open a project with JS3 beta A10, play around a bit, then, without saving, just do a "File | Quit". Any Cubase 5 users out there who've experienced difficulties if you quit Cubase while a JS3 project is still open? |

I make a point of saving my song before quitting in Cubase. Cubase seems vulnerable to "untidy exits" (eg crash or "poof") if I quit with a song still loaded - especially with large samplers and sample libraries loaded.
I also notice that JS3 betas warn me not to save in Cubase while the song is actually still playing. |

This save while play block will be removed in the next Beta. We will have to use thread blocking though instead since playing alters the data to be saved. This means saving while playing can cause audio dropouts. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

This block hasn't bothered me particularly - I tend to think of stopping the transport as a sound precaution and I had guessed that the "compose on the fly" aspect of JS3 was probably involved. Perhaps we should have a "don't save while the genius is at work" sign instead
It is just that the habit of hitting Control+S every so often is so ingrained it is hardly a conscious decision. |

I'm testing out Beta 10 with the EnergyXT demo.
I had tried Jamstix 2 (a long while back) with EnergyXT but when the transport was started Jamstix 2 would never follow along. I think at the time I read in the Rayzoon EnergyXT forum that there was a bug with EnergyXT.
The transport issue seems to be fixed so that Jamstix 3 Beta 10 works fine.
The problem I'm having is that when I set the time signature to anything other than 4/4 and run the Wizard...Jamstix 3 is not picking up the time signature from EnergyXT.
Is this a problem with EnergyXT, Jamstix 3 or is it just me
I'd really like to use EnergyXT with Jamstix 3 when it comes out. _________________ Cubase 4, PC, WindowsXP SP3 |

As far as I know, the VST plugin interface does not support time signature data. In other words, host and plugin can't share information about time signatures. Blame the folks at Steinberg who invented VST. ;) |

The VST spec DOES specify a method to transmit time signature data from the host to the plugin. If JS does not show the correct time sig, try 'Reset Song' in the song menu and, if it is still incorrect, inquire at the energyXT forum whether it sends time sig data to plugins. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Time signature is definitely in the VST spec. It is part of the VstTimeInfo structure, which every host needs to implement. I will be surprised if there are any hosts that don't implement this. _________________ Intel DX48BT2, Core 2 Quad Q9450 @ 2.66GHz, 8GB DDR3, Edirol FA-66, Studio One 2, Sonar X3e x64, JS 3.6.0, Windows 8.1 Pro x64 |

That's nice. I wasn't sure if I should go ahead and upgrade because I'm constantly working on tracks and saving and as of now I get a crash in Live. I'm so used to that workflow. I could deal with an audio dropout like the old version but a crash is just bad. |

Hi Ralph!
I was wondering if you could integrate some trigger functions, i.e. while Jamstix is playing space might trigger a break (just like in Groove Agent). I could also imagine different keys (e.g. 1-3) to make the selected drummer play different parts (verse, chorus...), which you could trigger "live". |

Can all be done already. The 'Options' screen allows you to specify MIDI keys to trigger fills. You can also assign MIDI keys to parts in the song sheet and then trigger them when in Liveloop mode. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
