That is not possible since the product is not finished. The beta is in fact a time-limited demo of what is completed internally at this time. The only thing that the release will have over the last Beta is new drummers/styles and kit. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

at low latency it chokes Live when in the song tab. after changing to the kit tab it plays smoothly |
Testing A9 on W7-64, C5.1.1-32 and Reaper-64, RME @ 256 samples, Q6600 ... I find that in Cubase I hear glitches and see ASIO spikes only when the GUI is displayed, glitching goes away when I close the GUI. In Reaper, I hear the glitches regardless of whether the GUI is displayed or not (no ASIO meter in Reaper). The behaviour does not change even if I switch to Windows 7 Basic (i.e. no Aero). There is a definite correlation between graphics activity/animation of the JS3 GUI and the glitches/spikes in audio. The video card is an ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro @ 1680x1050. |

We are especially interested in any issues on multi-core CPUs at low latency with Load-On-Demand on (crackling, ASIO spikes). We have tested A9 on various such configs and it performs for us flawlessly. The only exception is Cubase 4/5 for some testers. So, if you have trouble with A9 at low latencies, let us know.
Another long-standing bug fixed in A9 is multi-instancing. You should not have any trouble using multiple instances of A9. If you do, let us know. |
Hey Ralph.. Getting some asio spiking here using A9 with Cubase 5.0.1. XP SP2 with a Focusrite Saffire v2.2 input buffer at 11ms. System is a Pentium D 2.8ghz w 2gb ram.. That is with LoD on - not many but some.. None with it off.. _________________ Main Rig: C5.5(32bit), Win 7 64, i7 970, 12GB, UAD2, FF800, JS3

I am getting lots of ASIO spikes ...
Beta A9 over 200%, v2 never comes above 17%.
Even when the sequencer is not running ASIO is having spikes of up to 60%.
[edit]found the cause, I only get the spikes when the GUI is open, the moment I close the GUI ASIO drops to normal levels[/edit]
AMD Opteron 165 (2x1.8MHz), latency 8ms, SBlive! with KX drivers, Matrox G500 graphics. |

intel duo core here |
+1
It doesn't "choke" per se, but I get spikes (resulting in clicks/pops).
Let me know if you would like my log file as well.
quad core here.

Yeah, same here with A9. Pops and clicks, kinda like a scratched record. _________________ Steve L |

A10 is now out. Everyone with audio glitches at low (or any latency), please see if this beta fixes the problem. Thanks! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Definite improvement, although there are still some glitches anytime the GUI is open in Cubase 5 and there is a lot of graphics animation; with the GUI closed, it's perfect so far. No problems in Reaper whatsoever. |

Ray, have you considered a "lite" mode for the gui just showing the parts and which one is running, and where the next one kicks in?
My context is using Live Loops to jam, but with a fully loaded Live project an intensive gui can possibly cause dropouts, but totally minimizing the gui is also not practical as you need a "part playing" visual reference sometimes.
A simple "live" gui without the need to do a lot of animation updates may be a way around this. |

You can minimize GUI activity by clicking 'Mixer' or 'Kit' (to get rid of the grx-intensive bar editor) and then clicking on the bar/beat display to get the live mode big display up. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Seems fixed here in Cubase 5, Ralph.. No spikes, crackles, pops what so ever. Was tweaking parameters as it played back and got no glitches.. _________________ Main Rig: C5.5(32bit), Win 7 64, i7 970, 12GB, UAD2, FF800, JS3

Hi Ralph,
Didn't get a chance to work with Beta 9 but Beta 10 is not spiking here on Win 7 64/Cubase 5.1.1 (32). Performance seems pretty similar to what I was getting with Beta 8. |
