|
|
I got the JS3 Beta to show up as a plug in my Sonar.
I got it to load one of the Bonzo paks, and I can click the drums and hear the sounds.
I have a midi track in Sonar that is routed to the JS3 plug, and I can see the "Midi In" light flashing as the midi track plays, so I know JS3 is receiving the midi notes.
But no sound?
And I cant find any place to switch to "Sound Module" mode the way I do with JS2.
Will the JS3 Beta do Sound Module mode? Or do I have to wait for the release to do that? |

Sounds as if you don't have audio tracks for JS3 in Sonar. When adding JS2/3 to Sonar, you should always tick the 'MIDI track' or 'Instrument Track' option and the all outputs option.
Drum Module Mode in JS3 is achieved by depressing the current jam mode button. All buttons up=DM Mode. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Well, I have the JS3 plug loaded into the bin on an audio track, separate from the midi track. The midi track is set to output to the JS3 plug. I believe if I didn't have JS3 in that bin then the JS3 screen would not show midi notes being received.
I'll click and search and do some more hunting gathering in the interface. I usually overlook something really basic and elementary the first time I use something new. |

I do not recommend using JS3 in a FX bin, which is dedicated to audio effect plugins. Please use 'Insert Softsynth' to load JS3 and, when prompted by Sonar, check MIDI track option and all outputs option. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| It seems to work just fine. When I use JS in the synth rack then Sonar crashes a lot more. When I started using JS in the fx bin, no more crashes. At the moment everything is working great. |

Are you using Jamstix 3 Beta A10? It should not crash in Sonar at all. If it does, please send me rzdlog.txt from My Documents\Jamstix 3 and a brief description of what you did before the crash and how it crashed (error message etc.) _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I was getting crashes quite a while back (months back) when I had 6 or 8 different plugs in the Sonar synth rack. Examples of the plugs at that time would be JS2, Liquid Sax, Sonik Synth, EZDrummer, Pianoteq, Dimension Pro, maybe 1 or 2 others.
I think Uberschall Liquid Sax was the real culprit with my crashes. I was not meaning to say that JS2 was causing the crashes. What I meant to say was that I was getting Sonar crashes back when I relied on the synth rack to hold all of my instrument plugins. At the very least some of the plugs would just quit making sound at all, and I would have to close Sonar and restart it to get the sound back.
Someone on the Cakewalk forum suggested that the synth rack itself was a problem and said I should be using the fx bin instead for any synth plug that was not built in to Sonar. So I tried taking Liquid Sax out of the synth rack and putting it in the fx bin instead. After that I never had another problem with Liquid Sax. That made me start using the fx bin for other synth/instrument plugs including JS and Pianoteq. Since I've been doing that I have not had another crash or problem.
I still use EZD and Sonik Synth in the rack but only because that's the only way to get multiple outputs to route to different audio tracks. But those are the only two plugs I have left in the rack. I dont need multiple outputs from JS since it already has the built in ability to mix its own outputs. |
