"DYN" is separate in JS3. The knob changes depending on whether JS or JC mode is active.

Ok, thx for reply.

If i'm not wrong, the dynctrl alone dont reduce/increase the count of notes for a drumkit or percussionkit. It only changes the velocity for notes.
Most times i want to increase the power(counts of notes) of percussion, while drumkit is reduced. And vice versa.
Sometimes i want them equal, but mostly not.
It would be nice to have complete seperate controls here.
Maybe i'm missing something and there is another solution?

Its not "superimportant", but would help alot.

Sadly I haven't had time to experiment with the beta yet, but have printed off the manual to get my head round any new concepts while I'm stuck on the train to work, and...

To be honest, the manual hasn't really moved on much. Jamstix is such a great product, and Ralph's personal support via these forums has always been increible. However, having followed the forum for several years, it seems to me that new users regularly struggle with some of the concepts, and the manual isn't always a great help. This seems to lead to the 'catch-22' of Ralph having to invest his valuable time in one-to-one coaching (I've been one of the beneficiaries Wink ) rather than developing the product and manual.

I was trying to explain JS2 to to a friend / potential new customer the other day and ended up sketching out what I understand to be the song structure. I thought the resulting diagram was potentially easier to 'get' than a text explanation, so have attempted a 'proper' job: http://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0BwzPbRoVJpx3Njc4NTYwODQtZGFkYS00NjcwLTlhODEtNGQ0MGRjY2I0NzY2&hl=en

If anyone wants to improve on it I'm happy to pass on the source file (in Visio, which for some reason I can't upload in google docs).

I'm also happy to try and pass on more specific / constructive feedback on the manual if there is any appetite to revise it...

Nice... one thing that also isn't explained there is the kits. Maybe that part's obvious?

Guitarfish: that's a nice explanatory diagram! Keep bringing it on and we'd be happy to integrate it with your permission.

Yes, the manual alone is not sufficient. That is why we have a whole bunch of video tutorials scheduled to be produced as soon as the JS3 release is imminent. We dropped the ball on continued JS2 tutorials and won't make that mistake again with JS3. These videos will cover a wide range of common and un-common functions of JS3 and should help users of any level.

Simply cancel the load dialog when JS3 looks for Kontakt 3. After that, use 'No Plugin Selected' to select Kontakt 4 and then load a kit of choice in SSD. The mapping should work for both.

Hi Ralph,

Great work on the new JS3. I'll definitely pre-order it.

I don't know if this has been asked before but I think that knob increments in brain elements are too big. I'm using a notebook with a trackpad instead of a mouse and I'm struggling to set some middle values, either it goes to 0% or near 100%. Is it possible to add a keyboard modifier (like Alt or Control) to make 1% increments?

By the way, I'm using Beta A8 on Windows XP and Reaper

Hold SHIFT for fine-control on knobs.

Hi Ralph,
Happy New Year! Just wanted to suggest a 'middle 8' option in the songbuilder. I realise this could be done with a variation of a verse or chorus,or even a prechorus part, but a dedicated middle 8 part with maybe special halftime/'meltdown' feel would be very usefull. I've been trying out bete 8 for a few days now and overall I really like what you've done with the new graphic interface and will almost certainly be pre ordering JS3. A bit more info about some of the new features such as the 'groovebuilder'etc would be welcome, I realise you're a very busy man,but any details you can reveal about what to expect thats new in JS3 would no doubt help not only myself make up our minds to pre order! Keep up the good work mate, look forward to the full release, thanks Ralph.

Hi Ralph,

having problems here with Beta 8 in Samplitude 11 Pro: Midi file import does not preview the midis. I get the message: "Cannot read this MIDI-File".
Preview does work with JS2.

Best,

Johannes

Ralph

I'm very pleased with the new song wizard in general and it's possibilities but I'm having one problem that ruins this. When I work I often start with a 1 or 2 bar beat idea that I fine tune as the basis of a whole song. From here I would like to implement the wizard to create a song around this beat/idea.

But from what I can see the wizard deletes my idea and start creating a song from a clean sheet erasing my previous kit setup, style ,player etc.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

I bought the JS3 upgrade pre-order on 12/31/09 and have the email receipt from Paypal. How do I join the beta now? Is there a link that I have missed somewhere or do I need to wait for Ralph to send an email?

No hurry, I realize that it's a holiday,etc...

Thanks in advance.
