I have been using Jamstix, mainly with the arranger and rythms, to be able to set the song structure, ie. fills and different rythms and then locking them once I like particular bars that are played.

When starting out on this approach, I am often trying out different rythms or tweaking existing hats in a rythm and have to reset all the bars manually, after listening to a large part of the song. If I use clear all it clears all literally - ie. removes the fills etc and returns back to non-highlighted red bars. What I would love to have an equivalent button to the Clear All, called Reset All that changes all unlocked bars to the lighter unhighlighted colour without removing the pattern in the arranger.

Thanks

Trying to wrap my head around this Smile So you need a function that resets the choices (highlight color) for all unlocked bars. All this does is clear the choice flags for probable notes, chosen accents etc. I'm not sure why you need to do that after tweaking a pattern. Can you elaborate?

I may be misunderstanding how Jamstix works under the hood.

My understanding is that after the bar has been played it turns a brighter colour to indicate it is saving what it played. So for example, it if played a double snare hit on this ocassion as an accent, that bar will always play a double snare hit until it is reset (ie. duller colour).

So if I did not like the double snare hit in that bar, I would reset that bar specifically and when it played it again it may not play the double snare.

This would also apply if a 16th Before kick was set with a low probability then it may or may not play that kick on the first run through, but if it plays it it will always play it until reset.

My assumption was that once the bar is highlighted it will always play the same, even if you change the rythm. Even if this is not the case, while I'm playing through a song trying out different rythms to see what fits, I prefer (rightly or wrongly) to start with a clean slate each time - ie. no bars are highlighted.

Maybe you could explain a little more about what reseting a bar (highlight to lowlight) actually does in practice (without giving away any trade secrets Wink )

Thanks

You're right on the money about accents and 16th note probabilities. Those are decisions that are made once and then stored until reset. However, if you change the pattern itself, that change will affect highlighted as well as clear bars.
