Hi Ralph
Excuse me if this isn't the proper thread to ask this question. But are you able to elaborate a little more on the missing 'EasyStyle' function (a.k.a. GrooveBuilder).
I'm I right in thinking that I will be able to jam to jamstix with e.g (a bass guitar) then have Jamstix analyse just the bass guitar audio and Jamstix will produce a new (hopefully) tighter drum midi acccompaniment. That would be an excellent feature if true. It might posible be able to response to fluxes in tempo???
Sorry, I know I'm guessing here....
Thanks |

bakiki_: "EasyStyle" will initially operate on a hit template that you can tap in. It uses this template to build a groove with several flavors that you can choose from (i.e. Latin, Metal, Funk). Down the road we are hoping to finalize the audio analysis function for it (still working on it). This will create the hit template using a filter/beat analysis.
Tempo fluxes must be issued by the hosts since host/JS are always synched. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph!
Had just a quick install and play- through with JS 3.
Installing went fine, no show- stoppers so far.
Will try to do some more advanced composing and editing later.
Any bugs will of course be emailed directly.
Congratulations, JS 3 will be huge!! |

"tighter drum midi acccompaniment. That would be an excellent feature if true'
I am unable to get a 'tighter' drum sound.
Thsi has always been a problem for me. I like the idea of the time being loose for jazz but it seems a little too loose.
I've tried Quantize and compression but still is very loose.
Almost as if the 'drummer' was too concerned about stepping on someone's foot when playing. and is playing around the time.
What can I do to make this change??
Thanks! Jim

Does the beta install "beside" my current version or "over" my current version?
I'd like to participate in the beta but I'm in the middle of some projects and can't afford to potentially hose up things right now.. _________________ Main Rig: C5.5(32bit), Win 7 64, i7 970, 12GB, UAD2, FF800, JS3

The problem is not with Jamstix. It's either your system, your host or you're doing something wrong.

Can you post an mp3 of what you're hearing, and possibly a project file from your DAW as well? |

Just released Beta A3 with various fixes. Thanks to all you guys finding bugs and typos!
Also, if you want to use MetalPak,BonzoPak and Jamcussion kits, styles and drummers then those must be manually copied from the Jamstix 2 to the Jamstix 3 data folder. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph
I have been using a JS2 song in JS3, which uses the "Bonzo Kit". The kit automatically loaded, although it is in the JS2 Data Folder.
Is it imperative that I copy the kits to the JS3 data folder, and not use songs created in JS2?
Regards

Indeed, this crops up occasionally for me in Sonar, and resetting the audio engine always fixes it for me. Also, it seems to happen more frequently at higher latencies. Interesting though that it only happens in Jamstix; if I export to MIDI and have Superior play that back, this never happens regardless of the buffer size. _________________ Win7 RC, Core 2 Quad Q6600, Sonar 8, Superior 2 |

| Ralph does JS3 have a drum module mode like JS2 did? And if so how do you invoke it? |
