A note for those who get the 'please locate data folder' message. Please select the data folder of your Jamstix 3 install and NOT the Jamstix 2 data folder as the message implies. We will change this in the next Beta. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Excellent! I get an error that I either need to run the latest installer, or run the installer as admin, or that I moved the data files. I didn't move any data files, and I'm running the latest beta. Do I need to go back to 2.5.2? Never had this type of error before with Jamstix. Maybe I'm missing something?
Also, in Studio One and Live both(haven't tried others), the interface doesn't show up right. Only a few buttons and everything else is blank. So maybe this is related to that error?

I ran into the same thing with Cubase and it was because I didn't pay enough attention to Ralphs previous post. Do this...
Uninstall the beta and make sure you get rig of the .ini and dll file from your VST folder. Then reinstall and when it tells you that it can't find the data folder...don't point it to the Jamstix\data folder like it says...point it to the Jamstix3beta\data folder and you should be good to go from there on. |

Ok, going to try that now since I did everything it suggested and still didn't work.
Be back in a moment.

It never asks me to locate my data directory. How strange. It didn't the first time either. It just reminds me to download the stock kit from my download page. But all kits are installed that are made by Rayzoon.
??????
Still get the messed up interface, and it still tells me that data files are out of date. I've ran the latest installers though?

Hmmmm really weird. Did you make sure to get rid of the jamstix3.ini file from the vst folder?
I was getting the messed up screen too when I first launched it but after doing those steps all is well. I did reinstall all my kits under 3 once I got it working too.
Maybe you don't have to delete everything though.... check the contents of your .ini file... this is mine:
[General]
DataPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\jamstix3beta\data
Skin=skin_cymbolize
SkinSet=1
Make sure that you DataPath is set to the js3beta folder like mine. Maybe that will fix it. |

Ok, I gotcha. I put in the directory that the beta installed, and all appears fine now. Thanks for the help! It never asked me to find the directory though, so I'm not sure why.
Off to see if I can get things to load!

It's a bit rough getting these initial quirks fixed. Thanks for roughing it with us! Once we are passed the first few Betas it should be much smoother sailing. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

crap I started a new topic called outputs. JS3 installed. Added it to a tune that also has JS2. Disabled JS2. When routing outputs JS3 wants to use JS2 outputs. Get sound when ckicking on a drum but only displays on main output meters. Only get sound in pause. When I go to play no sound.
I am using Cubase 4. Does JS3 recognize the audio plug?

Gezzer, can you start testing this Beta in a new project, first? It's just easier to get things working that way. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph!
Successfully downloaded and installed BetaA2. Created a new edit in Tracktion 2 and added Jamstix 3 to a track. Used Kit tab to load Jazz Kit. Clicked on kit images to audition sounds. De-selected Normal Jam button to check sounds can be played from midi input. All OK.
If I then click on the Normal Jam button, and click Play in Tracktion, I would expect to hear Jamstix playing along. I can see parts being composed in the Timeline, but all the hits seem to be on the same note, and I don't hear any sound.
Not sure if I'm missing something, or have found a bug...
Alan
