Hello, I have bought jamstix, I starting to get deep into this beautiful vsti. I´m interested in work with odd meters, how can I play a jam with 7/8 or 5/4?

Thank you Ralph for such a nice product.

Greetings

Hi Prosodio and welcome to the board!

Odd time sigs are not directly supported by Jamstix. However, you can get close to it by alternating time sigs in your sequencer. For 5/4, alternate 4/4 and 1/4 measures. For 7/8 try 6/8 + 1/8 but I'm not sure if it will work.

Ralph,
first of all, thanks for bringing us JamStix! It has really brought new life into my music making!

I just started to experiment with odd meters and found that 3/4 + 2/4 often sounds better (to my ears I should say but then I'm not a drummer) than 4/4 + 1/4. It seem to give a more fluent rythm. As an example, load Cat with fast hats and compare.

Regards

Yes, that works well, too. Thanks for the tip!

I´ve tried 7/4 and 5/4 signatures and it performs right. I´ve tried with 7/8 (3/8+4/Cool and it performs as quarter note sigs, not as eights. Is it possible to play eights signatures?

Thank you very much Ralph, I have always hated writting rythms in my sequencer, jamstix makes it much easier, real and fast. Thank you again.

Jose

Jamstix wasn't design for anything other than 2/4 4/4 6/8 and 3/4. We are trying to make it "dance" so some things just won't work at this time.
