hi all
just realised i can load my old LM4 wizoo banks into halion and then play them with jamstix... wow! what an amazing sound set.

i have a question, and i realise this is more about how using halion, but i'm hoping someone here will be able to help out:

everything sounds great coming out of halion via jamstix except of course for the hihats. what i'd like to do is route those through another output somehow, so i can change the volume/pan/EQ externally. now, when i set up a program with my drumkit in halion, all the drums in one program get set to a particular output (either "Program" or "1+2", etc.). is there anyway to set the output of just one patch (i.e. the hihats, or anything on the F# key) to a different output (e.g. 3+4)?

or alternatively, is there anyway to get jamstix to route its data to midi channel 10, except the hihats which i would route to channel 11, and then in halion set up a separate hihat program on channel 11?

any pointers gratefully received.......

is this feature limited in the demo version?
my jamstix.ini file didn't have an entry of either [MIDI Out Channels] or ;HiHat. i tried adding them manually but perhaps i'm not routing the output of jamstix to the external halion correctly either.... i will check this again. thanks.

You can add the section manually. Here it is:

[MIDI Out Channels]
;Kick=1
;Snare=2
;HiHat=3
;Ride=4
;Cymbals=5
;Toms=6


However, MIDI-Out in the Jamstix demo is limited to bars 1 through 4 so you won't hear anything past that bar.[/quote]

Ralph, do you think that maybe someday we can have a tab in JS GUI to be able to select this without messing around the INI file?

I think something like this would be so nice because that way you can split everysingle drum sound as a midi track then bounce it to an audio track, sort of like micing a drumkit and then you can apply effects to the audio tracks or even edit parts.

What I did was to record the midi output into a midi track in Cubase, then I did the DISSOLVE Parts or something like that, and it splitted everything into its own midi track. It make a bunch of midi tracks though. If I can remember, like almost 32 midi tracks.. Is this normal? I did notice that almost all of them had some kind of midi info in them ,but I didnt have time to check in detail..

You know, maybe it was sixteen, its just that it seemed that it was like a lot of them. Neat thing thought is that each midi track had its own instrument. So It was easier to edit parameters for each specific instrument.

this thread got me thinking about the percussion. Forgive me if this has been covered.

I recall that percussion is not output when using MIDI output only? (again forgive me if I am wrong). I have only again found a bit of time to start playing with jamstix again (and have a bit of time warp between 1.0 and 1.2 .

What is the best way to use internal sounds for percussion and use BFD for regular sounds? (if it is the case that it isn't output).


In the event that it is output, I can then use BFD XFL sounds?

a question here: if i route the output of jamstix to halion (or anything else) is it possible to "switch off" jamstix sounds to save memory? i'm talking about having it talking to another vsti (not during sub-hosting when the internal sounds switch over anyway). at the moment all i do is turn down the volume on jamstix and turn up the volume on my halion track; but it occurred to me i might have better memory management if i could somehow unload jamstix "internal" sounds while doing this...
