Just downloaded latest Jamstix demo using Reaper 3.13 and I'm just trying to jam via a track and have jamstix drum for me.. I have gone through the forum and have tried all types of cfg's and it seems very simple, but Im having no luck, here's what I have so far:

Load track 1 with guitar via using POD farm, then added the audiom8 after it

Load Track 2 with jamstix demo, select "jam w/audio" /

I then arm both tracks and hit record and I see the meter in audiom8 working, I can hear my guitar with no problem but no drums ever kick in to go along with my jam...also the audio light also lights up in jamstix so I know there's a signal there

Once I stop the jam I can hear my playback with effects in track 1 with no problem but in track 2 (jamstix) I hear my clean guitar coming out, so I'm thinkn I must have something routed wrong

I am a newbie at this stuff so It's prob something really simple, so would anyone have an idea of what I may be doing wrong

(Just to add, if I select a song via Jamstix, that works fine, I hear the drums and can do whatever I need to jam along with that, it's just when I try to free jam is where the issue is)

Any help would be greatly appreciated - Thank you

Buddy

Hi Buddy-

What's the sound source for your drums (Jamstix kit, subhosted dll, separate drum module), and if you click on a drum in the JS Kit window, do you hear any sound?

Try this.

Don't bother with Audio M8 for now.Start again.

Make sure your JS dll is in the Reaper Plugins folder.

Open the FX on say track 1 and then add JS from the VSTi list.

When it pops up it will default to the,"Quick Start".Choose the Rock one for now.
Now in JS when you see the drum kit click at the top on the Kit Tab and it will show the Song sheet page.Right click on the small half arrow for the intro and choose,"Remove Part".This way the beat will start straight away.
Also whilst on that page choose,"Jam No Input".

Come out of those pages and choose your Guitar track to record if you wish and then just start Reaper playing.

The,"Song Sheet" page is where you will do most of the work. You don;t need to trigger JS with Audio or midi for it to create realistic drum patterns and they can all be changed and messed with loads of ways,"On-The-Fly" once you get into it.

First, Thanks for all your input..!, so ok here's what I tried

Susan: I checked and had nothing setup for a dll, so I choose the audiom8.dll and the jamstix2_demo.dll as well...I could hear sounds when I hit the drum pads/cymbals on both, but still when I try to have the drums free jam along with my strumming, etc. I still get nothing..unless of course I have a song loaded and those drums kick in at their own tempo, etc

also wasn't sure what you meant by "separate drum module"?

but bottom line was that I had nothing setup for a dll and the only ones I could choose were the 2 mentioned above and I could hear the pads

Sheppol_A: I tried what you had mentioned and I basically get the same thing as before but without the intro, so the drums kick in and play normal

I might be missing the point of this app as what I'm trying to do is have the drums come in and play along with my diff strumming patterns on the fly, with my tempo...and then I know I can go in and adjust later, etc

Not sure what else I should do..

Thank you both and I'll keep messing around to see if I can figure it out

Susan's post/reply is closer to the mark of what you want.Have you read the manual?

http://www.rayzoon.com/jamstix2_lib.html

There should be a set up for it in there.I don't use that method so can't really help I just wanted you to get some sounds going.

Try this thread,

http://rayzoon2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4530&highlight=jam+audio

I don't think it's meant to jam to the audio as such but jam once you have chosen a style and groove. Then it will jam/accent.

I was asking what you were using to generate drum sounds, but Shep's advice to keep it simple is good!

1. Load JS in a REAPER track via the FX button, cancel the Quick Start dialog, and switch to Jam with Audio.

You'll see one Part in the Song window. Choose a Style & Drummer.

2. Go into JS's Kit Window, click Load, and load a JS kit to get started. Don't worry about sub-hosting a .dll at this point. Click on the kit instruments to make sure you're getting sound.

3. Add audiom8 as an FX to your audio track.

4. Record or just Monitor Recording in the audio track. You should see the Power Level changing in JS.

If that still doesn't help, post again and I'll upload a simple REAPER file that might make it clearer for you.

Sorry, there's nothing in my Inbox. Do you want to upload your .rpp somewhere and post a link to it here? I know some folks on the REAPER forum use JS, so you might also want to ask over there if you haven't already.

Wait a minute...

Did you load any drumset using the "Load" button top left:
http://www.rayzoon.com/img2/screen_2_0.jpg

If you click on the snare, is there any sound ?

Or maybe I mis-read your problem...

Hi Dali-

I already asked the OP that in step #2 a couple posts up, and he said he went through all the steps and still got the same results. Maybe he sorted it out though, since he hasn't been back.
