I did a clean install of Windows 7 and Sonar 8.5.1 (64 bit) ...when I load up Jamstix 2 the VST pops up but when I try to Install any Jamstix Kits it causes a repeat hard Sonar crash that only the Task manager can end. I know Sonar uses a Bit bridge technology and I found a BitBridge selector in Global Options/VST tab. It is set to Automatic.
My other VST's seem to be working fine. |

Please use MiniHost or SAVIHost (or any other 32-bit host) to install the kits. After that, JS should run fine in Sonar x64 via the BitBridge. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph - I am having a similar problem also in SONAR 8.5.1 x64, in fact just bought jbridge to try to get around this, before seeing your reply here. I re-installed all JS1 and JS2 kits and the add-ons (metal pack, bonzo kit, jamcussion, etc) in Cakewalk's Project 5 (32 bit) and it works just fine there (as it has before). I opened SONAR, and Jamstix loads up fine using either Bitbridge or JBridge - however all drum sounds for all kits are missing - if I click on an individual drum kit after loading a kit, there are no sounds available (just a drumstick sound).
Do you have a suggested workflow that will help me out? Is the initial installation in the x32 bit host dependent on where the files are from which the kits are installed?

OK - Sorry Ralph - I figured it out. It was an issue with user privileges. I run SONAR as Administrator, and should have also installed the drumkits in Project 5 with Proj 5 set up as administrator - I just installed the Bonzopak doing this, and confirmed it works fine in SONAR - Dumb user error on my part.
Thanks

| ...For the record - I crashed with jbridge, but Bitbridge seems to work just fine. I read a comment on the Cakewalk forums that recommend using JBridge for Jamstix2 - which is the reason I purchased it. However so far at least, Bitbridge is all I need - and Jamstix2 works fine under Bitbridge for me in Vista x64 SP2 - not the case using JBridge (for me at least). Hope this helps another fellow SONAR/Jamstix user. |

Hey - were you successful in getting this to work? If you use Ralph's instructions to install, or re-install the kits from inside a 32 bit host, it should work fine - just need to be sure to pay attention to have the 32 bit host also run as administrator -
Sorry if I hijacked the thread - |

Hi,
I am using windows 7 64 bit. I have 2.5.2 jamstix installed, all the standard kits including the 2 extras I bought, and have actually used it a few times for recording. But the last couple weeks, I've had 2 occasions where my project would not load. Assuming it was an audio driver issue, I have been back and forth with MOTU support. I finally found a Sonar forum post (the host I use), outlining starting in "Safe" mode. When I do this, my project only refused to load when selecting "no" to jamstix2, every other plugin works fine.
So the solution in this thread will not work for me (reloading the kits with a different host), since I can't get to the jamstix interface to then re-install the kits. Are there any suggestions on how I can get my project to load with jamstix once again?
Thanks |

Does JS2 load a subhost in this project or is it using only Jamstix sounds? _________________ Ralph Zeuner
