hiya
first off may i congratulate you on a truly amazing piece of software. i can't believe i'm thinking of relinquishing my drum playing to my computer -- but from the demo so far i'm totally bowled over!
a couple of questions before i go ahead and purchase:
1. is there any way to use my LM 4 wizoo drum kit sounds with jamstix? i know i can route it to the LM to play through the .dll but what i'm looking for is to get jamstix to play the wizoo kits directly: i recently moved over from mac to windows, so my LM4 is a mac plugin, and i'm not going to buy the windows version, but i do like the wizoo drum samples, which i've already paid for! any suggestions?
[edit: btw, i realise also that i can import the sounds individually in the mapping pane, but i guess i'd like to use the multiple velocity samples the wizoo kits have for each drum type)
2. is there a limitation on the demo about playing midi in realtime along with the jamming feature? i could play audio in realtime and have the velocity slider respond to me, and consequently have jamstix respond to my playing (bass) but when i tried to play along with midi (following instructions in the manual, including switching to midi response in the transport area) it didn't seem to be "hearing" it: the velocity slider didn't move and the "light" on the right side of the transport didn't light up when i played (though the red light did flash when i played audio). so i thought perhaps there was a demo limitation on this....?
3. what is the upgrade policy after buying jamstix? i.e. is one eligible only for 1.2.x upgrades, or only 1.x, and do you know how youwill charge when you eventually move to 2.x? or if you release the percussion module, etc. etc.?
all in all i'm totally amazed by this and i'm going to buy it anyway, but i'd appreciate knowing answers to these things first...
thanks!
mark
p.s. i second the call for more jazzy rhythms and sounds... |

Jamstix can host various sample VSTi, such as Battery, Kontakt or the free sfz soundfont player. If you can build a kit from the Wizoo samples that can be played by a sampler of yours then you're set. The cheapest way would be to build a soundfont with them and have sfz play them inside of Jamstix.

You can only use Jamstix sounds in the mapping page at this time. These are multi-velocity in a special format. We are planning to release an update in the future that will allow you to import your own samples into the Jamstix engine.

No, it should work fine. Which sequencer are you using?

Jamstix owners get all updates free until version 2.0 next year. At that point, owners will be offered a substantial discount for the 2.0 version.
Pricing for JamBace and Jamcussion is not yet set. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

hiya
yes, still using the demo: but i've sorted it all out -- as you said somewhere, can't remember where: if something isn't working it's probably because you got the routing wrong... and that's what i had wrong.
thanks again for your help.... |

p.s. i realise that when you get big and famous and flooded with emails and queries and complaints from all corners, it's going to be hard to maintain the level of support you're providing now because you'll be just too busy, so let me take this opportunity to say i'm as bowled over by your support on this forum as i am about jamstix as well!

Thanks for your kindness. We will continue to provide the best support we can.
PS: I'm already too busy to keep this up but, hey, it's part of the product as much as the code! _________________ Ralph Zeuner
