Since the VST (and VSTi?) specifications have limitations with regard to real-time notification of time signature changes, perhaps we could have a "time signature editor" (like SONAR's) instead. You can add/edit/delete both the signature and number of bars in a list, rather than having to add parts first - this way, you can have Jamstix play along with a lot less up-front work.
It would be even more useful if Jamstix could support "part holes" rather than having to configure sections to use the silent drummer/style - that way, if you decide that you don't want drums in a particular section anymore, you could just delete it and Jamstix would simply do nothing for the duration. It would be able to do this because it has the time signature information somewhere outside the part configuration.
Finally, a way to import and export that time signature list would be very helpful. Right now, if I want multiple copies of Jamstix playing with the current song with different drummers/styles at the same time, I have to:
- save the song
- load the song into a new copy of Jamstix
- reconfigure each part's drummer and style
With import/export, I could simply load the time signature file, switch the drummer/style globally, and be done.
Thanks for reading. |
