Here's my current setup.
Jamstix2 - Midi Only Output (no samples)
That midi information is triggering samples in BFD2 (loaded as a separate VST, outside of Jamstix).
I can see Kick & Snare notes in the Groove window, but the only sounds I'm getting, are the high-hat through the entire song, and then whatever fills are played at the end of each measure.
If the fill includes bass and/or snare, then it'll play those fills perfectly fine, but the bass & snare in the main "groove" isn't exporting any information in Sonar 7.
Any suggestions?
When I try to "export midi" and load it that way, from the file, then I only get a small portion of the song. (I have 3 parts so far... "Verse", "Bridge" and "Chorus")... The only thing that exports when I "export midi" is the chorus.
So I tried setting it up the way I described above, so that I can try to "record the midi" output from Jamstix, onto the midi channel in BFD2. Seems like it should work, but the lack of bass & snare has me puzzled.
Any suggestions? |

Ok, nevermind. I think I FINALLY got Jamstix to work the way I've always wanted it to, I hope...
Basically, in the Kit section, I would always load "Keys Only" and that didn't work for what I was trying to do. When I loaded the full BFD2 Vistalite kit or whatever, and then went to the mixer and switched THAT to "midi only" or whatever, then that gave me the results that I was looking for.
So now Jamstix no longer crashes Sonar (by having Jamstix & BFD2 both loading the same BFD2 kit, and then killing each other).
And now I'm able to use Jamstix JUST as my drummer, while keeping the BFD2 "kit" completely seperate. So if I want to record a drum track on my "kit", I can do that, without worrying about Jamstix re-doing parts.
Not sure if this makes sense or not, but it solved my problem, and now Jamstix does everything I wanted it to do. Thanks! Great program. |

Correct setup, glad you got it sorted. Also, if you ever get only hats in the groove, check the song power knob in JS2. If it is too low and 'Reduction' is active in the brain then the groove gets simplified/reduced all the way down to hats only at zero power. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
