Any one know of issues. How can I start all over with jamstix?
Thanks

I too am running oOnar 8. I was going to hold off and get a new computer running first but my old one crashed and wiped the OS, so I decided to reinstall that first. I went ahead and installed Sonar 8.

pretty much everytime I run it (some other software too) it asks me for my name and License. So for some reason it appears unable to retain that information. This happen in the VST scan phase at the front and I suspect that it has more to do with Vista's requiring more stuff to be under My Documents. I believe Jamsttix 2 scribbles the state into its local folder under the VSTPlugin folder.

More disturbing is that I open a previously done song and JS2 appears to have decided to mute a couple of limbs. I see red x's through everything in their row and doing an unmute does not change anything. I have yet to verify if it is or is not playing those items. I had split the drums out into at least three tracks (possibly more). I have to see what all I actually did in earlier versions (I had not worked on this track for awhile since I was busy on lyrics).

i believe i may know a reason that js2 is failing to generate code. there is no selection for proper timing of this particular song. the song is bluegrass. i think that this is the reason that there is no note generation of notes. as per the failing icon; after a reboot the compose icon is back. ????????
it is very disappointing that the program can not generate a real simple beat.

Start your host via right-click and 'Run As Administrator'. This should help retain the authorizations for Jamstix and other plugins. You only need to do this once. After that you should be able to run in non-admin mode.

Red crosses mean that Jamstix doesn't play the notes currently due to limb or power rules. The notes are not removed or anything. Jamstix is simply telling you that it decided not to play them. If you move the mouse over a red cross, the status line will tell you the reason. My first guess is your song power knob is low and 'Reduction' in the brain is on. Jamstix thinks your song is in a quiet dynamics part and is reducing the rhythm in response.

You may have a bad install of JS2. Please send me the file rzdlog.txt from My Documents\Jamstix2 and also a screenshot of what your JS2 looks like.

File is 16MB too large to send?????????????? as per jpg - program looks proper since reboot!

funny thing just happened - file is now only 16K At least I has saved the original which is 16Meg but can not send that file. Maybe all is right now??

Is my comment of JS2 not being capable of a simple blue grass beat? because this may be the only issue now. of course that is not anissue if the program limitations stand in the way.

Thank You
Ken

The 'Country' styles folder has Rockabilly, Two Step and Trainbeat, which may work for you.

what about all of the erors that are in the log file that you asked about. Are they not important now that the file is small?

I'd love to see a rzdlog.txt file after it messed up. If it is large, please zip it and it will get much smaller.

I checked your log. The time signature is set to 8/16 but Jamstix is designed to handle x/4 and x/8 sigs. I recommend you change the sig to 4/8 and all should work well. Please do a "Reset Song" in the song menu after you change the time sig.

PostPosted: Tue Aug 25, 2009 9:08 am    Post subject: Diminished Power Reply with quote

Assuming Jamstix sees diminished power, its choice is to remove all LH and all RF actions. RF is the only Bass Drum action.
I was sort of suspecting I needed to do Install Pack on the additional packs and it was skipping actions because the drum requested was unavailable. Because I do not recall having imported the add-ons. However, the Quickstart menu thinks they are installed and the add-on drummers appear to be installed.
Unfortunately, I did not freeze Jamstix prior to the crash when it was being well-behaved (i.e., playing everything). The project is at the point where previous midi tracks are now converted to wave files, so there is no particular thing jamstix can look at for dynamics information. In order to increase power must I now insert the plugin (audioM8) to an audio track so Jamstix has an idea of the current dynamics? If so, what piece of state was not saved that allowed Jamstix to function well without midi information before crash/reinstall?

It's all about the song power knob. I recommend you set the mode to 'Jam Without Input' and set the song power knob to 100% by holding the CTRL key down and left-clicking the knob.

PostPosted: Tue Aug 25, 2009 12:26 pm    Post subject: Power Knob Reply with quote

Power Knob snaps back to 0 as soon as I start playback. I get some power back if I Jam with Audio (it gets to 16 and allows some LH action). It seems to zero power out on Jam no input. With Jam with Audio I also seem to get about every fifth RF action. With only about one action per measure, this is pretty sparse.

Another anomaly is that there was a drum solo in the old version. It wasn't supposed to be a solo as I just hadn't got around to recording the additional tracks, so only drum was playing for 8 measures. Now it goes dead silent except for two strokes half way through and it plays the fill that leads back into the song.

Make sure to switch to 'Jam Without Input' so you can manually control song power.

yes. I called it Jam with No Input but I tried that and it resets the knob back to zero on play.
