I have found that I program snare and kick myself, so that the kick is locked with the bass. Jamstix easily "learns" this by pressing the learn buttom. After that I can add accents and fills. Works just fine. However, one thing does not work fine at all: The hihats.

I get boring hihats, just the tick-tick-tick throughout (when using Jamstix classic to decide how to play the hihats). I can, of course, edit the hihats manually opening up the hihats here and there to get some variation so it doesn't sound artificial. But this method is slow. Is there ay other way getting a more interesting hihat with the hihat opening here and there and perhaps some extra accent hits except the 8 per bar I choose?

I got midi in the Toontrack libraries with a good hihat, but I would like to control it more using JS2. What can I do?

If you are using 'Jamstix Classic' style, have you tried changing the hihat 'Style' element? Your choice of drummer will also effect the hihat performance. Try 'Carter', 'Stewart' or 'Mark'.

I had already tried those suggestions. Tried once again, but found nothing useful.

Do I remember correctly that Jamstix 1 had a sort of grid for hihat too where you could enter hihat hits and how open they should be. Or at least something like this?

Yes it did.

In Jamstix 2 you can program you own hihat pattern in the bar editor (either from scratch or based on an existing JS2 bar) and then save it and use it with a groove importer on any existing style.
