Hi!
JamStix is a great tool - never seen that kind of software. Very helpful for me as keyboarder who has little or no idea of creating great sounding grooves.
I'm working with energyXT 1.30 standalone. That was no problem with JamStix 1.1, but doesn't work with version 1.2: Everytime the JamStix-GUI isn't visible the audio-output of the plugin stops. After re-installing version 1.1 everything worked fine.
I have no workaround - I think it's a bug.

Can't duplicate it. I open energyXT and drop Jamstix on it, then I open the Jamstix GUI, select a rhythm and close it. Then I start the synchronizer and Jamstix plays with the GUI closed.
Please advise if this works for you and what steps you have to take to produce the problem. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Zauni,
thanks for the reply. But the situation where the error occurs is different from the one you describe. Please test the following:
- Start energyXT standalone (SA) and add a sequencer-component
- Add a midi track in the seq
- Route the output to JamStix 1.2 (JS)
- Dock JS
- Start the seq with JS closed - you will hear nothing
- Start the seq with the JS GUI visible - you will hear the busy drummer doing his work...
I've posted in the energyXT-forum - maybe it's a bug of SA? See http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1151551

I duplicated these steps and you won't hear anything until you either select free jam or a rhythm. So I did that and closed the GUI, started the seq and it worked fine. Opened and closed a few more times. I even saved the project and then reopened it without ever seeing the Jamstix GUI and it still played. What am I missing? Did you select free jam? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

You've got to select something for Jamstix to play. If you didn't select free jam, did you select a rhythm from the library? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Yeah man, I selected some rythms - the same that worked in 1.1. Or, to put it more exactly: I had made a song with 1.1, closed energyXT, installed 1.2, the last arrangement was converted by 1.2 - and played only under the above mentioned circumstances. |

What happens when you start from scratch without using the 1.1 arrangement or any other saved project. Does it play w/o GUI then? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I installed 1.1 and 1.2 and started from scratch under the above mentioned circumstances (energyXT standalone - seq - output to JS 1.1/1.2 - dock JS...).
JS 1.1: Output with and without GUI
JS 1.2: Output with GUI, silence without GUI |

I still cannot duplicate this problem. Let's use less steps, please do this with 1.2:
- open eXT standalone
- add sequencer
- add Jamstix to a MIDI track
- open Jamstix and click Free Jam
- close Jamstix GUI
- press SEQ PLAY
Also, please add this line:
Logging=1
to the [General] section of your jamstix.ini in the Jamstix folder. After your test you will find a file called 'rzdlog'txt' in the Jamstix folder with debug info. Please send it to support@rayzoon.com _________________ Ralph Zeuner

One question: when you open the GUI and Jamstix plays can you then close the GUI and it still plays?
In other words, does opening the GUI once fix the problem for that session? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Zauni,
beg your pardon for the late answer. Well: simply closing the GUI makes JS 1.2 stop, re-opening lets you hear the sound... |
