Hi Ralph,
I have just installed Jamstix 2 on a Vista Business laptop and am getting error messages when I load it in Reaper 3.01. I get the error message that some files are out of date and that I might need to reinstall an update and to try doing this in administrator mode etc. I have tried that and also uninstalling and reinstalling JS2 (had to install all the packs again too). Nothing changed with regard to the error message. This problem was crashing Reaper 3.01 when I tried to reload songs with JS2 instances loaded.
Current version on this machine is JS 2.5.1 installed from the executable update. This error doesn't seem to be crashing Reaper 3.01 since I reinstalled but otherwise the error message remains. |

Hi Ralph,
I downloaded the js2.ini file and swapped it for the old one. This didn't fix the error message so I have tried both suggested remedies. I wonder if it is an issue of permissions or something. I brought the old files from my main DAW shifting them across on a memory stick and coping them to the HD before installing the old JS1 kit and some of the newer kits. I see that the original JS1 kit in a Jamstix folder withing VSTPlugins but JS1 is not installed.
I am a newb when it comes to Vista but I found some issues with other sample libraries seemed to be fixed by getting rid of the read only setting and also giving users full access to the files. |

| I just installed Reaper 3.02 and the error message is no longer appearing when JS2 loads. Will get back to you if this recurs. Thanks for your assistance. |

I spoke too soon! The error message on Jamstix 2.5x load has returned. After a couple of successful loads of Jamstix 2 without the error message I have that message again in Reaper 3.02.
I'm not sure if this is relevant but I had two installs of Reaper current - I have Version 2.5x and version 3 but I seem to have installed 3.02 over 2.5x so I can now launch 3.01 and 3.02 and no longer 2.5x. |

Are you absolutely certain you don't have multiple Jamstix2 installs? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I checked and there were two - one was in C:\Program files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins\Jamstix2 and the other older one was in Steinberg\VSTPlugins itself. I removed the latter but this did not change the error message which is happening in all my hosts.
I just tried installing v 2.51 updater again in administrator mode but the error remains. |

Please copy the js2.ini file as described in the Jamstix 2 FAQ to:
C:\Program files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins\Jamstix2\data\sounds
This should fix the problem. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph,
I have good news. I had an issue with another host on this Vista machine and it was suggested I disable the UAC as per MS instructions (Control Panel/User Accounts/UAC Must Die - or something like that).
I did this and it fixed the other issue and the error message with Jamstix 2 seems to be gone. I have loaded it in Reaper and the other host (in beta) and no error message in either case.
Regards,
Phil |

I had already done that once. Not sure if you meant to do it a second time. Anyway, as per previous message problem is gone with UAC out of the way. |
