|
|
ALL CUSTOMERS WHO BOUGHT JAMSTIX 2 ON OR AFTER 05/11/2009 WILL RECEIVE A FREE UPGRADE TO JAMSTIX 3!
Here we will release information concerning Jamstix 3. Check back often as we'll update this thread during development. Please note that all information given here is subject to change!
Confirmed Release Date: 05/05/2010
Platforms: PC-Only (OSX version will not be ready until later in 2010)
Changes & Enhancements:
- MUCH improved interface graphics (courtesy of Scott Kane)
- increased GUI size
- wizard to aid in creation of song structure
- easy/advanced brain mode options to ease learning curve
- more styles & drummers
- time signature support expanded to 7/4 (14/
- sample load-on-demand (LOD) to reduce memory footprint
- snares and toms get left/right/center sounds and all logic is modified to properly support this. Example: groove snare hits are center and a single stroke roll will use left/right hits
- hands can be assigned tools (drumstick, mallet, brush, hot-rod), which also allows mix-&-match
- hihat expressive range extended to support tip and shank in the same kit
- note edit grouping in the bar editor
- 'kit' and 'mixer' windows will be integrated into main interface
- expanded mixer
- improved fill planning by the A.I. using motion paths
- grouped kit editing (i.e. 1 set of hihat controls versus the current 7)
- audio output routing/naming based on sound group
- expanded rolls, wash and rudiments options
- lots of other small improvements
We are also working on a Groove Builder that would process a MIDI or audio clip that represents a part (verse, chorus etc.) and feed information to the brain that cannot be done in real-time (due to need for look-aheads). This function will allow you to create grooves that fit specific rhythmic properties of your MIDI or audio clip better. Groove Builder will be made available in a free update after the initial release.
EDIT: Jamstix 3 Public Beta program is now active! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Woohoo!
I'm guessing it's been in development for some time with such a tight schedule. Any ideas on when to expect the first betas? |

No idea on betas at this time.
As soon as we have the GUI near finalized, I'll publish some screenshots so you can all chime in on that aspect _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Looks very exciting!
Can we know what the upgrade price will be for us "early adopters"?
Thanks-

Hi Ralph-

Ok, understood. I'm sure it'll be worth it, whatever it is.
Everything you listed looks excellent, but "increased GUI size" might be the standout for me and my old eyes!

The GUI will be the most obvious change from Jamstix 2. It will have the same workflow as the current GUI but be bigger and much better looking. We'll also streamline some inconsistencies in the workflow. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Fantastic news! Since I've just got Jamstix 2 I'm glad v3 will be free for me
Can you post a preview of the new interface?
Also, you've said that the MAC version of Jamstix will be v4. Does this mean we won't have Jambassist before 2012+?
Thanks, I'm really happy with the product and great service! |

May I suggest you post early GUI (maybe in wireframe state, greyscaled) so obvious stuff can be pointed out *before* it's too late in the process ?
I fear that showing visual interface in the end will just made things harder to fix if something went the wrong way.
On the other hand your reputation for listening to your customers will stay your greatest asset.
If you want "visual comments", you can always PM me anyway. You know where to click...
