Hello,

I know I should play at least once the whole song to get a correct drag export, but I have played the song for sure several times in the past without changing anything - so no recompose should happen.

This is what happens:

I have this song in "Jam - No input" mode all set, all played completely in the past (previous sessions).

I drag the song to the JS2 MIDI track, then I set JS2 in Drum module, and I find that some events are missing (there are like small holes).

Back to "Jam - no input" and the holes are not there!

So, I play the whole song, repeat the sequence (drag, set to Drum module) and everything is ok.

Maybe I should change JS2 mode only with transport off because if not I can loose some data? Or do I have to play completely in the current session to get all data for drag export?

SONAR 8.3.1 with JS 2.5.2 beta 3 here.

Thanks,
Mario

Could you send me a JS2 song file (or CWP) that does this?

This happens to me too
Sonar 8.3.1
It randomly misses out a measure
The notes are on the programme but it's blank on the host when dragged.

Test project sent by email - here missing notes span even less than a measure, sometimes even single shots are missing.

Looking forward to hear news.

Here is what I did with your project:

- loaded it into Sonar
- immediately dragged SONG label to MIDI track in Sonar and saw the holes
- started playing the song from bar 1 and let it play through
- dragged SONG label again and so no holes

Btw, another way to get the MIDI is to enable MIDI output in Sonar for JS2 and then select JS2 as a MIDI source on a track, arm it and let it record the whole song through.

Thanks, so now the question is why the first drag produces the holes since I surely made it play through a lot before and never adjusted something that could trigger recomposition. Maybe do I have to play the whole song each time I reload a project to be sure the drag contains everything?

Thanks,
Mario

It is a bit of a pain, I know. Due to all the real-time interaction and AI, the MIDI creation far more sensitive than with standard canned MIDI clip players. I generally recommend to use MIDI export (if at all) only at the end of the project prior to mastering or when the JS brain work is done and all further drum work will be hand-editing of MIDI data in the host. So, in other words, in both cases there will only be one export and after that JS will stay in module mode.

No biggie at all, Ralph. Just wanted to make sure the behaviour is correct and expected and there's no bug.
