Hi,

Here's a tune I started a couple of months before Jamstix 2 was released. Once I got JS2 I redid the drum part (Jamstix 1 wouldn't play the 16th note cymbal figure I wanted) and I'm pretty happy with the way the drums turned out. I'm still working on the rest of the tune.

It's about 6MB.

Ralph, what are your recommended settings for getting this type of jazzy sound with JS2. It's kind of what I've been looking for but don't know where to start. Tim

I'm not sure what Brian used and it actually sounds like an external sound library. I would use a dry kit from XL and experiment with various snares from XL. The MetalPak kick might also be fitting here.

Sounds to me like Toontrack's Vintage Addon or Vintage Rock EZX (which is basically a smaller version of the same library). Sounds really good, whatever library it is.

Hi Tim,

I used Toontrack's Superior Custom & Vintage samples on this track. The Vintage Rock EZX (good ear, dysfunction!) is the closest thing to this that's currently available. The the basic groove I "transcribed" from a part that a real drummer played when we played this tune live. I most of the fills and accents are from JS1.

Thanks guys. I should have been more specific. I was talking more about creating the jazzy style not the sound (which is good too). I'm a sucker for the busy cymbal/hi hat work. Any suggestions on drummer model etc...Thanks.
