I saved a midi file of a song and the groove plays fine on another module but apparently the fill and accent information was not transferred. Anything I can do?

The only way, unfortunately, to reliable export the midi is to arm Jamstix's midi track, record, and play through the part or song you want to export.

I'm confused as to how to do this in PT. There are no inserts on midi tracks and PT crashed whem I tried to load JS into an instrument track. Do you know what I have to do to make JS write a midi file in PT? Thanks

You can drag-&-drop to the Windows explorer to get a MIDI file.

Ralph, I'm trying to figure out the best way to get midi files out of Jamstix on the OSX solution I am using now, running Jamstix through CrossoverGames (as described in the PDF). Since there is no windows desktop, I can't drag parts or the song to any desktop anywhere. I have tried to use the Jamstix song export midi file command, and it does create a midi file, but I try to use that in my Mac DAW, it doesn't seem to have any drum data in it. I don't know if this is a mac vs pc file issue, or midi file 1 vs 0 issue, or if this is a bug in Jamstix about exporting the song as midi file.

I can drag and drop parts from Jamstix into the Reaper.win DAW that is hosting Jamstix, and that works. Perhaps what will make sense will be for me to work with the drum tracks in there instead of on my Mac DAW and only when they are finalized, find a way to export them from Reaper to bring over to the mac

Any other suggestions?

I'm stumped as to why the export file is empty but drag-&-drop works. It suggests a comp issue with the Mac software. What happens if you import the exported file into REAPER.win DAW? Does it show data there?

I tried to read the exported midi "song" file into Reaper.win. Had nothing. So to be clear, what i did was ran jamstix a while until it filled up a bunch of bars worth of beats. Then I used the song pulldown box to say "Export midi file". That exported midi file had nothing in it no matter where I opened it.

But I just did another example where I used one of your quick start songs to load into Jamtix first. This time the exported song midi file had all the notes. So all I can figure is that i need to learn Jamstix better and I just didn't have my song finalized yet or something before I tried to export it.

In any case, Im finding that a better way to work in many ways is to drag and drop the individual parts from Jamstix into Reaper, and from Reaper (under crossover), I can do some of the midi part tweaking and arranging if I want to...and work it all out there before exporting to use on the mac from there.

One feature request would be the ability to export the midi (without drag and drop) of individual parts and/or even individual bars or groups of bars. I can drag the bars one at a time from jamstix into Reaper I see. If I wanted to go directly to Digital Performer, I either have to save from Reaper or else if you had a way to export to file without drag and drop in every case, I think that would do the trick. Then again, why have needless menus when most people don't need that feature except for your one lonely mac adventurer... heh.
