I'm considering getting Jamstix, mostly for the brush kit and the engine and have a few questions.
1:Are there any more audio demos of the brush kit besides the one song on the main page?
2:When importing midi,is there a way for Jamstix to remember the origional mapping imported ,like import templates or something and convert to whatever the output vsti is?For example,AD,EZ,EZX's,SSD midi are all mapped differently (even though in Toontrack's case it's usually only minor differences). So can the brain accept say AD(or whatever mapping) in and convert the output to SSD (again just as an example)vsti. Are these input/output mappings customizable (if they indeed exist) in that the user could make their own templates/mappings?Hope I explained that correctly.Thanx. |

Unfortunately, we don't have any other brush demos at this time.

The import mappings are hard-coded. MIDI import and subhosting/MIDI out are fully separated so you can for example use 'Import' style with the AD logic and import an AD MIDI file and then use any other drum module (i.e. EZDrummer) or the internal sounds and all sounds will be properly mapped. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Very cool. One more question,do you guys support the Steven Slate mappings?I recently got those and they will be providing free midi for customers every month or so.It'd be a shame to not use 'em in Jamstix. The mapping is similar to Toontrack but nonetheless different. Is there a listing anywhere of the supported mappings. My main concerns are EZ/EZX & Slate so if you already do those or plan to I'm in & will be ordering shortly.Thanx for the prompt reply btw. |

Do you have a MIDI key layout for SSD MIDI that you can send me? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Sure.I don't see a way to add attachments here, but if this helps, heres a link to the manual,it has the keymap inside.
http://www.stevenslatedrums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=752
Once again,that was a very quick response,thanx.
[Edit] Ok,I emailed it to ya.The manual is basically the same thing,it just shows which keys are specifically for V-drums,which are only in the extended kits (x slots) and which are device controlled (KDC).The map I emailed works fine w/ all the full kits here. |

I have added SSD3 import. This will be available in the next Beta. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

amazing - it takes toontrack months to add anything to EZplayer, you get it done in 20 minutes.
Maybe you can come up with a competitor to EZ player Pro, you probably have all the know how and code base to do it. |

As Jamstix has MIDI import capability, it essentially already IS a competitor to EZPP- just far more powerful and flexible. I think the only thing it would need would be the ability to tell it what mapping imported MIDI uses, and wrap it to the currently set output mapping. Don't get me wrong, I love Toontrack's products, they have the best drum samples and sample playback engine in the industry IMO- but Jamstix is lightyears ahead of EZPP. _________________ Win7 RC, Core 2 Quad Q6600, Sonar 8, Superior 2 |

| Yeah,I guess it kinda is isn't it,never really thought of it that way.It would be nice if it had double time as well like EZ Player,I know it has 1/2 time already. But then again,I haven't purchased it yet,I'm going by the demo so I could be just missing something.Regardless I'm ordering it tomorrow anyway. |

Jamstix has a host synch option where you can do halftime or doubletime relative to the host. This yields the same results as EZPP. In contrast, the 'Halftime' button in the Jamstix brain is completely different from the EZPP function in that it actually alters the rule-set for the groove creation to 'think' in halftime (if the particular style supports it) so that it is more musical and human than a simple halving of note distances. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| But the host sync is only globally (for the entire song) not per groove correct? Also,is there a list of the currently supported mappings (in & out),or are they the same as the demo?On the demo for midi import there is only GM,AD,Groove Monkee, current kit mapping and EZX Latin. What confuses me about that is Groove Monkee is already pre mapped for different vsti's,which of the many mappings does it refer to?Also the only EZX is Latin, many of the EZXs vary from EZD and have extra hits as well.I apologize for all the questions. |

Host synch is global, yes.
Import modes are what is in the demo. The next update will also include Steven Slate 3.
The 'Groove Monkee' import mode was required for some (maybe older?) files. If you have GrooveMonkee GM or AD, then the corresponding GM and AD modes will work fine.
We added the EZX Latin option for Jamcussion. Other EZX are not specifically supported at his time but many files from those EZXs will work fine in GM mode. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
