Jamstix is a VSTi plugin instrument, which means it needs a host to run in, such as Cubase, Sonar, Tracktion, Live, FL Studio, Acid Pro, REAPER etc.
If you do not currently have such a host, you can use a free minimalistic host like SAVIHost or MiniHost or the demo version of REAPER.

Are you sure that you are adding it as a VST instrument or input of a track in Sonar?

I opened up sonar and added it to the vst folder. the only place that I could find the folder was on the E drive (CD) this is after installing it. So I scanned it from there and the licence key screen came up so I input the licence key, then I opened a song and added jamstix as a soft synth, and went to the kit screen and hit the`install pack button and it can't find the folder for the stock kit. If I try to download it off of the CD the computer just asks me what I want to open it with. How do I get it from the CD to the jamstix vst.

Please unzip the kit files so you get RXP2 files, which you can then load via 'Install Pak'.

Thanks for your help. When I click on the files I have a choice to open or extract niether of these choices seems to unzip the folders. I'm sorry that I'm not very computer literate. Is there a program on my computer that will do this? I have Windows Vista as an operating system. Thanks again for your help.

Right-click on the ZIP file and choose 'Extract' (or similar). This will create the RXP2 file.

Thanks Ralph, I'll try that now. I hope that solves my problem. After trying out the demo I was very impressed, and look forward to using Jamstix on my songs. Thanks again for your help.

I think that the stock kit and the 3 packs are installed OK now. My recording computer would not unzip the files, so I unzipped them on my other computer, and then was able to install them on my recording computer. I still have not installed the update. Will I have to rescan my vst folder with the update when I install this? Thanks again for your help.

No need to rescan. Just run the updater.
