Hi all!

I've just downloaded the demo version and by far am impressed with Jamstix 2 (regardless of the demo limitations which are of course very annoying).

However, i couldn't figure that out for myself so maybe someone here can help me. Being a guitarist, i fired up my DAW and tried to quickly assemble a song (the one i chose was AC/DC - Gone Shootin'). I figured out everything except for the syncopated accents. Don't get me wrong, i read the manual and know what are groove weights, this is different.

If you listen to original song, the beginning of the bar is always syncopated (an eighth note earlier than it would normally be). But i couldn't make Jamstix to end fill on that note instead of going for a full bar and ending up hitting "straight" bar beginning. I hope i made myself clear Smile

I checked the song out and it is a straight 8th rock except for the bridge part. What I would do is use 'Custom Metal' in the verse with hihat openness slider at zero. Now use another part with 'Custom Metal' for the bridge but in that one you keep the hihat open to a certain extent and use the 'John' drummer with the accent 'Early Downbeat' set to full. This will give you the syncopation you need.

Thanks, worked like a charm! Although i can't actually control when exactly would John put that early downbeat... But i will tinker with it more... Damn, i'm seriously considering purchasing this thing!

i'm currently trying the demo (purchased addictive drums some time ago so i'm not going to purchase Jamstix in the foreseeable future, sort of short on cash). great VSTi though, a pity it will expire...
i was trying to figure out the same thing as the OP... this "early downbeat" slider more or less works but i encountered a problem with this method.
as the OP already mentioned, i can't control when exactly the early downbeat happens. also, the "fills" engine doesn't seem to support early downbeats. I mean when i have a transition fill to the next part i have an early downbeat and a crash on "normal" downbeat - fill engine doesn't seem to know anything about early downbeats. maybe i'm doing something wrong, i don't know.

however, i will suggest a solution that might work. why not add an "early downbeat" button to the fill (like "end crash" and "no groove" one)? i mean it would be more logical than what we have now.

Cheers,
John

We're thinking about an early downbeat fill option. Until then you'll have to hand-edit the downbeat in the fills (still faster than creating from scratch).

We are also considering a pattern option (i.e every 2nd bar etc.) for accents, such as the early downbeat so they are more controllable.

would be great if at least the "early downbeat" button would make it into the program!

Cheers,
John
