would you mind posting an example, I really would like to hear the difference in an A/B test. (but please be fair and use the js2 xxl kits when a/b-ing with a similar amount of ambience for both kits)
thanks, drjee |

I personally love JS drums, I love the XL pack. Truly awesome sounding.
Just the other day, I was working on some worship songs for the church and the kids and wife were out of the house, so I blasted the volume up on my monitors. Well, when they arrived they literally thought I had the church drummer playing in the house. It was so awesome, they actually said that it sounded like a real drummer was playing the song. I told them is my Jamstix drummer!
I can't wait to get the metal pak and bonzo pak, so far this is the most awesome drumming system I have ever heard. Thanks Ralph for blessing all of us with this program. I always pray for more blessings and prosperity to your company.

I made one using the song I'm currently working on (a cover of Opeth's 'Windowpane'). Comparison is between the 'G2 Toms- Mapex Snare' XL Kit from Jamstix, and the Hit Factory library from the upcoming Vol. 2 expansion to Superior 2.0 (I have it before release because I'm a Toontrack betatester). Both are from stock presets with no additional mixing and, I hope, similar levels of ambience, but it is hard to really get similar ambience because they were recorded in such different rooms (in the case of the Superior kit, one of the most respected studios in the world). I wanted to use the Bonzo Pack to make the most fair comparison, as that is the most deeply-sampled Jamstix kit to date with the best room, but I lost my installer when I reinstalled Windows and I've been too lazy to ask to get the download activated again
Superior plays first.

I've got Battery 3,but I can't remember the last time I used it.The Jamstix2 XLS Bonzo, Metalpak and Jamcussion are fine. The EZDrummer sounds good from the demos on you tube, and looks simple to use.Looks like it would go well with Jamstix2.Battery 3 was just to time consumming.
On the Rayzoon home page it says that the Bonzo drum pak was recorded in a room with a 17" ceiling. Are there any pics, and would it be a possibility that you could do what Altiverb do and have a virtual image of the drums in that room. _________________ EMU 1820M user |

I swear you're psychic or something.
I uploaded another comparison, perhaps a bit fairer one this time. Comparing exactly the same MIDI, a Bonzo-esque bit I whipped up in EZplayer Pro, with Jamstix's BonzoPak, ambience at max level, and Superior 2 Vol. 2's Allaire kit, loads of ambience on there as well. So the same MIDI, two big-ambience rooms, two classic Ludwig kits. Jamstix plays first this time.

I use the stock XL packs. For most of my stuff they are superb and with the Multi outs you can create even more sounds with EQ and Compression etc.
I can see the case for other drum sounds like AD/BFD etc but they tend to lend themselves to the more heavy/Metal type off stuff IMHO. |

| I use mainly the sounds from jamstix2, but if I want a different sounding drum, I also will use drumagog a drum replacement module that works great. |

| I've got a pretty good metal sound going with the Metalpak's Tight kit, though I'll admit to using a clickier kick sample alongside it. |

I have all the Rayzoon sounds and Superior2. To tell you the truth, I thought I would always end up using Superior2, but the drums from Rayzoon honestly sound great.
Now the Steven Slate drums, that's another store. He's got the snare tone I want. |

I have XLN Addictive, all EZdrummer and all JS packs (except the metal one).
I mostly use the JS Packs, in my little productions, and I find that Bonzopack is one of the finest drum sounding kit on the market.

To me the stock sounds are perfect. It's easy to separate the drums on channels (particularly the kick for ducking) and then EQ and compress as desired for that punch. I like that they sound natural instead of overly compressed or "boomy", so I can fit them into each song.
That isn't to say I won't buy the expansion pack soon, but I'm incredibly pleased and impressed already. I'll take Jamstix over any other drum program on the market, hands down. It really IS like having great session drummers at your fingertips (without the personality disorders). |
