Hello Jamstixers!
I have written another handfull of songs and plan to record them now successively with my reactivated band BEAT CRAZY..
This is the first one. Work in progress and not yet completely finished.
Please tell me what you think.
Drummer is JS2 with the Stewart model driving AD.
Host is Ableton Live 7.0.14
The guitars were done with the AxeFx Ultra.
Bass and Vocals were captured with a Line 6 Pod Farm.
Keyboards were done with a Rhodes VSTI emulation (I think it was 4front Rhodes).

Great composition and playing.There's a little bit of pitchiness in some of the vocals.Nothing major.
The mix is a little unbalanced on the right hand side on my monitors e.g if you have two guitar tracks running the left hand one is louder and making the mix swing over to that side.
I have to ask as well why are you using AD and not the sounds in JS?I've always found the hi-hats and cymbals to be a big let down in AD.Jamstix's are way better IMHO. |

Yes, vocals will have to be redone as the´re only guide vocals and I was still familiarizing with some of the parts. As I said, work in progress...
As there is only one guitar running (except for the short little backwards "solo" snippet) I will have to investigate if it´s a bit too hard panned (or if the Rhodes on the other side can´t equal this).
As for using AD:
There´s absolutely nothng wrong with the sounds of JS itself.
What I like about AD is its readiness of sound. A little tweaking (pitching, compression and room building) can be done in AD itself, and ready it is.
Also it´s very light on CPU. I used to use DFHS and while its concept is truly great it always took me ages to get anything decent done.
I like AD very much, and my real life drummer is also fond of it (also of Jamstix).
Do you find the hihats and cymbals lacking in the song?
To me it actually has all the bite and sizzle that I expect from it.
I asked my drummer if I should mix the Ride Bell a little lower but he said no.

I liked it so much I paid the guy $5 donation.
It's a fantastic plug-in.It doubles up Guitar nicely saving having to do two takes on songs that benefit from it and spread is across the mix.

Also why not try the Hi Hats and cymbals from JS with the other drums from AD just to see how they sound fun

I don't really see the problem with having an asymmetrical mix. There's no rule anywhere that says you have to have equal volume coming out of both speakers, especially not in more vintage-style music, which this seems to be. Also, Sheppol, I don't think that's guitar at all on the right channel, but the Rhodes Doc mentioned in the original post. It could come up a bit, I suppose, but it doesn't need to be perfectly symmetrical.
As far as doubling plugins, it may save you the time of overdubbing tracks, but you simply won't fully achieve the same effect as with overdubbing, and you can get some phasing issues if you're setting the delay time low enough to simulate overdubs.

When was this?
I lived in Eppendorf, too, from 1986-92 when I studied medicine at the university hospital.
I bet you know the Grosse Freiheit and all the cool places! |

I would have been there some of that time I think as it was around 17 years ago.Yes I went to the Gross Freiheit I think.I used to drink in the,"Pallette" and,"Borchers".My accommodation was in Geschwister-Scholl-Straße of the Famous Sisters name |

"Borchers" was a MUST for us students.
I used to live in a side street of the Geschwister-Scholl-Str., im Tale.
In one of those beautiful old houses that date back to the beginning of last century. |
