I loaded the Demo.
Seems to work well in Sonar 8 PE 8.3, as far as it goes.
Question :
1) When I try to subhost BFD2, it says JS needs 16 outputs, but it seems JS Demo is limited to 4 sterero or 8 mono - is that correct ? (So in effect you cannot subhost BFD2 using the demo)
2) JS Midi out is basically turned off. But I should still be able to hear JS trigger the BFD2 kick ? I was never able to get JS midi out to trigger BFD2. I did get a midi track in Sonar to trigger JS no problem. Is there something I missing regarding JS midi out triggering BFD2?
3) Is it possible to have a midi track in Sonar (where a song is already composed using midi groove clips) to run through JS, get style treatements etc, and then play treated midi out to BFD2 ?
After playing with it for a few hours last night, I have come to conlcude that the demo is not going to show me what I need to see, but I hope I am wrong. I love the concept of JS and the GUI, but as I see my money is not refundable (and I fully understand that) I am bit hesitant based on what I have seen in the demo version.

No, it is not limited. Go to the mixer in JS2 and set it to 16. You then have to remove and reinsert JS for the host to acknowledge the change.

That should work so let's talk details. You've got a MIDI track generated by JS (with just kick due to demo limits) and your feeding it back to BFD2. Are you feeding it to a BFD2 loaded into Sonar or loaded into JS?

Yes but not exactly like that. You can import MIDI groove clips into the 'Import' style (or mix them with other styles via the 'Add'->'Groove Importer' from the brain menu). The JS A.I. will then give the grooves its 'treatment' as if they were JS styles. The result gets sent to MIDI out and can be routed in the host to BFD2 or you can just load BFD2 into JS.

The demo will show you everything you need as far as I can see. Let's work out those details above and then go from there. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I will give it a go later today and let you know.

Bought the full version. (On Sonar forum I was assured all these items worked, so I took the plunge)
Works much better than the demo.
