| Trying to map some conga sounds over to EZX Latin Percussion. After assigning the midi notes to Jamcussion drums by right clicking, when I try to load a midi file using those notes it says: Key #92 can not be mapped. Please load the "Conga 10" sound to correct this. Also - Key #92 can not be mapped. Please load the "Conga 10" sound to correct this. I have Dfh sampler loaded as a subhost. Where do I find "Conga 10" to load. Right clicking a drum after loading a subhost only gives me the option of changing the midi note for the Jamcussion template drums. |

Please use the 'EZX Jamcussion' kit in the 'Jamcussion' kit folder and when importing the MIDI, make sure to select 'EZX Latin Percussion' in the mode listbox. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph,
Thanks. Tried that. Using 'EZX Latin Percussion' returns more errors than if I select 'Current Kit.'

Can you send me a sample MID file so I can duplicate this? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I did a little more playing around and this seems to be the issue:
I have no problems using EZ drummer if I select styles out of the Jamcussion folders. It seems where I'm running into problems is trying to drive Jamsticks with midi parts out of EZX Latin. Main problem seems to be on congas. I'm guessing this is because EZX has 15 articulations for conga 1 and 11 for conga 2 while Jamcussion only supports four slots for drums 3/4. So the midi files from EZX might be directing Jamcussion to look for sounds that are not loaded.
One thing I find confusing as a non-drummer is the names assigned to each of the 4 hand drum slots and the 2 timbale slots. Jamcussion uses names like Drum, Drum Med, Drum Rim, and Drum Mute for the hand drums and Perc and Perc alt for the timbales.
Could someone tell me what those sounds are in more traditional terms for the hand drums and timbales. I.e., Open, open slap, Basstone, Heel, Muted for conga and Open, sidestroke, and rimshot for the timbales?
I never realized that there were so darned many ways to hit a drum <g>
Thanks.

I have just sent you a test DLL with a fix.

This was a necessity since you can load all kinds of different drums into the four main drum slots (congas, bongos, cajon, djembe) with different playstyles. So we distilled it all to four articulations:
- main slot = basstone
- medium = open
- rim = slap
- muted = muted
For the other percussion slots we used a two articulation model: main sound and alternate sound. For a triangle the alternate would be the open sound, for the timbales it is the rimshot, for the guiro it is the slow stroke, for the tambourines it is the single-hand shake etc. etc. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
