When I try to load a restore point there's the following error message:
"Access violation at at address 048169E3 in module jamstix2.dll. Read of address 00000000."

This is reproducable. System is Intel Core Duo, Win XP SP3. Can I provide more to details to get a hold on the cause of this error?

Since the file is empty the restore point is unfortunately worthless.

Access violations are usually something to do with RAM or the registry. They can be caused by badly seated/failing RAM.
However they can also be caused by two programs trying to access the same memory address and also a corrupted/bloated registry.
I use several free Registry cleaners and have done for years,

and compact the registry from time to time.

Access violations can actually be caused by many things within software, most of them being accessing an invalid pointer. The access violations Voltago got are most likely due to the revision file being empty, which Jamstix does not expect.

The famous BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) are the ones that are usually due to bad RAM or bad software drivers.

I also had problems with a free Firewall I tried made by Some PC magazine.Got rid of that straight away so another program running may be causing a conflict?

Smile Hi Ralph,

these days I did a lot of programming with the new Beta-version, nearly everything in "JAM NO INPUT" or "DRUM MODUL"-Mode.

I have had a lot of fun and in my work Jamstix 2.5.1 Beta2 is doing everything fine - absolutly no trouble. GREAT!

Regards
Carl Matthias

Hi Ralph-

I'm just wondering if you have any ETA for the official release of 2.5.1? I ask because while I'm having no problems I can attribute to the Beta directly, if I encounter an issue in one app I can't repro in another, the developers understandably want me to try it in an official released version.

Thanks-

-Susan

2.5.1 Beta 2 is what we officially recommend at this time. It is not official as we're still working on some additional things for the final release.

Hey, Ralph, I´ve had some problems with the latest releases (can´t say it´s only the last for sure), here I tell you what:

* There are notes that I enter in a cell and when I pass the mouse over they don´t preview. Sometimes it happens in accents too.

* When I mark a fill with ´no groove´, I expect that inserting a piece in a beat before the first beat produced by the brain should mute the groove from the newly edited beat to the end of the bar, but it´s not happening. I´m not sure if that´s supposed to work this way; is ´no groove´ working only for brain created fills only and only in beats created by the brain? I think it´s desirable that custom fills mute groove as well (and I´m almost sure it worked like this before).

* ´Start Crash´ doesn´t work always as well, I could find a pattern yet , but maybe it´s just a matter of limb conflict, so I need to further check.

* There is a problem with drums preview I detected in the DRUM 1 part of Jamcussion, the DRUM 1 MED, RIM AND MUTE all preview the first slot.

I´ve been working in other instruments and stayed sometime far from editing in JS2, so why I´m not sure which release cause me problem, because I always update.

Thanks!

Bar editor sound preview: I cannot duplicate this. Can you send me a save song that does that and tell me bar and note where it happens?

No groove: I can't duplicate this either. I have a auto-composed fill and manually place a note on beat 1. The groove stops on beat 1 as expected. Could you send me a save song file that exhibits your problem?

Start crash: we are looking into that.

Drum 1 preview: works fine for me. If you do not have an sound assigned to med, rim or mute then JS automatically uses the next available sound type.
