|
|
I have recently started a fresh install on my Vista laptop but I now get "Some data files are out of date ...... You need to run the latest Jamstix updater. ..." message. I have tried the sticky suggestion (right-click and choose 'Run As Administrator') and dowloaded the JS2 ini file and replaced but still no luck. Also tried reinstalling JS2 and then rerunning all updates from 2_1_0 onwards and only appear to hit the problem at 2_2_1 - any suggestions?

Vista does funny things with files in 'Program Files' when UAC and virtualization are enabled. I recommend you do this:
- uninstall Jamstix 2
- download full 2.5 installer from your download page (I have just enabled it)
- install Jamstix 2 to c:\jamstix2
- load the Paks
This should solve the problem. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph
Thanks but I'm still not there.
Actions taken;
Turned UAC off
Uninstalled and reinstalled using the V2.5 full installer, just downloaded
Sonar did not recognise Jamstix 2 at all (I had copied the DLL to the vst folder but realise now I had not taken any of the other files/folders from the JS folder)
Anyway I then tried to install normally (installed as admin even though UAC is still off) into the Cakewalk/VST folder and I still get the error message "Some Jamstix data files appear to be out of date"
I have not tried adding any RXP files yet.
If I install to C:\jamstix2 what do I do with the files contained (ie the folders) to ensure Sonar recognises the dll
Next suggestion?

You should keep all files in c:\jamstix2 and then add the path c:\jamstix2 to the search path of the Cakewalk VST adapter.
Please also manually copy the js2.ini file available in our FAQ to c:\jamstix2\data\sounds for good measure. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
