Hi Ralph
Just loaded latest beta X3-12
I have my Jamstix cpr(Project) in CubaseSX3, which I use for playing around with Jamstix.
Since the X3.12 was installed, Jamstix stops playing around bar 52/53. and then just random drum sounds now and again.
Tried several times, always stops at 52/53.
Nothing has changed in the cpr, I've been using this Project arrangment from day one for jamstix testing.
Went back to X3.9 and this didn't happen.
This in Freejam mode
Any ideas?
regards

Maybe I'm missing something - but: Wouldn't it be worth considering to put a knob for downloading the latest version of the manuals somwhere on the site? I still use 1.03 manuals - are there newer ones existing? _________________ Frank

I think projects save prior to the latest beta will not work. _________________ Musikman

They do work fine but projects saved with the latest betas will not open right with older Jamstix version. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

All official releases (not X) now come with updated manuals. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

It works fine for me here. Could you send me your CPR to support@rayzoon.com? Also, what happens when you start a new project from scratch? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

After a bit more testing.
In my "jamstix" project cpr. Allthough it says X3.12 in the "about" tab, it misbehaves, ie stops playing at bar 52.,but if I remove jamstix from the VST list, and then select jamstix again in the list immediately,(which makes Jamstix reload, as you know) it will play OK.
If I revert back to the saved cpr it misbehaves again.
So saving with the reload in VST should solve it.
So, not a show stopper, just a bit more info for your data bank

It's data in the CPR that triggers new features in the X3 beta, probably the bar locking. Can you look at the arranger and see if the bars are locked or muted (white rectangle or blackened) past Bar 52? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph using X-13 fast test this way:
Inside Chainer Standalone, load energy XT [I do this to have better control and experiments with the audio outs... XT lets me do this before they sum up to Chainers single audio out]
ok... in XT, JS X-13, with only midi out, and that midi output triggering other drum vsti's... [let's just use one at a time... say kontakt or DFH2 vsti, but it should not matter for this point]
What I see is that JS will run [let's use manual mode with any rhythm loaded] and it will get up to bar 995 and just sit on that bar repeatedly... AND then:
In Arrangement window... Stop JS, reset Arrangement to the beginning, and hit Play in JS again.... whoops! Instantly back to bar 995...
This seems to be true with 'use arrangement' on or off also with clear Arrangement, ... nothing is locked, nothing is muted...
It reminds me of the same behaviour way back when, with running JS in Chainer Standalone when it would not reset the Arrangement back to the start bar.
any thoughts?
[admittedly, this set up is a bit odd, but it is a really handy and fast way to work out experiments using multiple vsti drum dll's to arrive at unusual sound mixes.... so yes it's wierd, but it's also way way fun!] |

Chainer Standalone sends SPP but has no facilities to rewind. Jamstix is forced to go to whatever bar the SPP from Chainer commands. In other words, Chainer needs transport controls or at the very least a SPP reset button. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

The pace of development we are seeing with Jamstix is phenonmenal. Some great little enhancements in the X3 updates - eg you can now see the currently loaded mapping on the Jamstix GUI.
I've been working with Toontrack C & V and the Jamstix X3 betas this week and the combination is working really well - no stability problems and Jamstix grooves along like nothing else.
Looking forward to the 1.2 release next week.
Regards,
Phil |

ah right... my mistake there... I thought that was altered in JS... now I see the JS rewind looks like it works but it really just starts again at whatever was the last current bar... ok
so... I have a prob. JS don't seem to run right for me in Standalone XT... i.e., I don't get the play function to ever get JS rolling [say in manual jam mode]... but if I load XT into Chainer first, then it does work ok...
I suppose however that doing it this way makes XS take on the SSP from Chainer being it's host... oh well ... so much for fast fun... I guess
Thanks for the replies Zauni... maybe I can find another host |
