| I can't seem to get the program to show up in Sonar 6. I run the latest vst adaptor, and it does find it while running, but when I open up Sonar, it is not listed. I have tried installing to the default dir. which is programfiles/steinberg/vsts and also have tried installing to a new folder I call jam... the adaptor finds it, but sonar does not list it... any ideas? |

Whats a vst adapter? I have never used one.
I know I have my own problems at the moment with loading a project, but I just installed JS2 into the Cakewalk/vstplugins folder and then just use insert/softsynths and it show up in the list. |

| with sonar and also guitar tracks, you have to have run the vst adaptor for the programs to load the item. Doing it the way you mentioned does not work on these programs |

Did you upgrade from a previous version of Sonar?
I don't think you need the vst adapter for version 6. |

| nope.. you do.. I think that started with 7 or 8, not needing the vst adaptor, it is the only way to load vst's and vsti's |

| I can honestly say that I have been using JS2 with no VST adapter in Sonar 6 Home for months now and it works absolutely fine. Have you tried just using the soft synths menu item on the Insert menu? Thats all I do and loads and works straight away. |

I have Sonar 6, but couldn't check when I left my earlier message.
Last night I did check, and I can load up vsti without the adapter. |

| It does not show up in the menu for soft synths. That is the problem. As far as not using the vst adaptor, I think sonar will run it automatically, if it sees new vst's in the folder... I have noticed that before... but running it or not, jamstix just does not show up anywhere in sonar. |

Please open the plugin manager in S6 and make sure JS2 is listed under 'VST Instruments (VSTi)'. If it is, click 'Options' under 'VST Configuration' and do a rescan with both 'Rescan' options checked. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Dont really know what else to try. Thing is though I still do not know what the vst adapter is. Does it come with Sonar or is a seperate product you download or buy? There is no reference to it in any Sonar documentation or books I have seen.
How do you use it with Sonar? |

| getting there now.. jamstix loads into sonar now, and I am able to with the mouse curser hear the drums, but when I try to play the part, by choosing run in my host, nothing happens. I loaded up the aaba song like in the help file said too. Could not find a way to "drag n drop" to the track if that is the way to do it, but from what I gather in the pdf help file, I should just have to click start in sonar, with jamstix loaded with the aaba song, and it will play... it isn't. |

When inserting Jamstix into Sonar, make sure to check the 'MIDI track' and 'All Synth Outputs' options in the Sonar insertion dialog. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| ok here is my sequence of steps... maybe this will help, because I can not get it to play. First of all, I am using the demo, I like the sounds but wanted to make sure it is what I want before I buy. In sonar, I go to insert soft synth, I choose jamstix, on the dialog box that comes up, I choose all synth outputs stereo. Sonar loads up multiple tracks for jamstix. I then choose aaba demo that is in the menu. I push play in sonar, and the yellow midi light in jamstix lights up once and that is it. One thing I noticed is that all the drum sounds if I hold my mouse over the timeline in jamstix, comes out of only one track. Is this the way it should be?.. Also how do I actually make it play? |

When you press Play in Sonar 6, does Sonar actually run? Meaning, does its bear/beat counter run? I am asking because an empty project in Sonar does not play as it does in other hosts. If that happens, you need to use a play range or 'Record'. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
