Have loaded Jamstix on my new Vista compter and receiving the subject error message. Have tried the procedure in the FAQ with no change. When running the updater as administrator the destination is C:\Program Files (x86)\VstPlugins\jamstix2. Can you help? Thx![/img]

Hi Ronald,
welcome !
Please make sure the path is correct, the most typical path would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugins\jamstix2
I've seen installers "update" into a "ghost directory" instead of the correct one with various software titles over the years.
Do a search on C for "jamstix2.dll" to verify.
If that does not clear matters I'd turn off UAC (Vista only) and then do a complete uninstall/reinstall as Admin.
Hope that helps,if not, report back.
Cheers,
Rhino

Wow, that took a while...but no change. I logged in as adminstrator, removed Jamstix from the Remove Programs menu. (This removed everything.) I turned of UAC. Then I reinstalled Jamstix, the kits and the 2.2.1 updater. The original jamstix2.dll was in the diretory noted in my original email. The updater was directed to the same directory. This is the only directory with a copy of jamstix2.dll on my computer. What now? Thx!

Hi Ronald,
the only remaining option I can think of atm is replacing the ini file.
http://rayzoon2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3629, solution #2.
Should be quick and painless.
Please try that and report back.
Good luck,
Rhino

Replaced the js2.ini but no change. Found a 2nd js2.ini, the only file in c:\programdata\jamstix2 folder. Replaced it as well but no change their either. Any other ideas? Thx for all. Ron

From all I know there shouldn't be a "c:\programdata\jamstix2" folder by default.
In fact there shouldn't be any "c:\programdata\ ..." folder.
I only did one Vista 64 installation of JS 2 yet and everything worked like I'm used to from many XP32 / XP64 installs, no folder generated except "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugins\jamstix2", which corresponds to my standard plugin path in the registry.
Are you familiar with registry editing ?
The next step I'd try myself would be another uninstall, manual cleaning of the registry and then reinstall as admin / no UAC to the default location.
I can offer you guidance for that task, but some registry knowledge on your side would be useful.

If not I'd suggest to wait for Ralph in this case, this is not a standard issue.
He's never far away ... Wink
Cheers,
Rhino

Well...slightly different results this time. I carefully followed your last instructions, deleting the only registry line that referenced "jamstix". After reloading as Administrator, I do NOT get the error message, but...only when logged in as Administrator. When logged in as a user, the message still appears. The "good" news is that Jamstix appears to work fine. But I'd like to clean this up as soon as possible. Thanks!

OK, good job so far !
Now you can at least use JS2.
Have fun !
I'm sure Ralph will help you get rid of that annoying message asap.
Cheers,
Rhino

Oh, did you replace the ini with the downloadable ini file this time ?
Could be the missing link.
Sorry, the issue's definitely UAC / permissions related but I don't know much about this , my DAW has no internet connection and all those security features are getting switched off here immediately after installation.
Cheers,
Rhino

Yep, replaced the .ini file as well. Sorry, no change. Vista 64-bit will probably challenge you (and me) for a while. Would appreciate any future advice on this one...THANKS!

Update: sorry, last night's report of "it works anyway" was premature. This morning Sonar will not run Jamstix at all, and will crash when attempting. Any additional advice greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you using Sonar 64? There are issues for some users with Jamstix and Sonar 64 that we haven't been able to pin down, yet. But Sonar 32 should definitely work.

No, I'm using Sonar 32 under Vista 64. Sorry for the delayed response, was out of town for a few days. Still interested in how to get this right. Thanks!

Have you tried the latest Beta available from your download page? Also, please send me the file rzdlog.txt from your Jamstix 2 folder.

Ralph, yes I loaded the latest beta. Have sent the .ini file to your attention via the Support web link. Thanks! Ron
