Good idea!
Hey RichLum, since you're basically the resident Jamstix/n-Track expert, would you mind adding a thread with your quick steps? I'll set it to sticky once it's up. Thanks!!! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

OK took me a bit longer to get some time but spent today avoiding the Christmas eve crush and put this Word doc together...
It probably needs to be formatted a bit better and it's almost 2am here now so I need to go to sleep but thought I'd put a link up so people can review and provide some feedback.
I should have some time over hte next week or so to make some more changes etc.
Let me know if there's anything I missed or got wrong...

Hey all, Im a noob to the forum and very impressed with the levels of support and encouragment from all involved.
This thread seems to have been dormant for a while so I feel kinda guilty resurrecting it.
Have just bought Jamstix - downloaded a few days ago and running in Ntrack, which was also just bought a few days ago. therefore I assume that I have the most up to date versions available.
I am however experiencing very similar problem as was mentioned earlier by Scantee as posted Wed May 18, 2005.
Jamstix is added as an instrument and plays fine when ntrack plays.
If I close the jamstix window and just play around in Ntrack it all seems to go fine however if I leave the jamstix window open and make changes to various settings in the jamstix window occasionally both gui's will lock up but the application will keep playing the sequence. There is no response from any mouseclicks and I end up having to end task Ntrack. It seems that the mouse focus is still on a drop down box after the click has taken place and it some how locks up the application.
Any advice would be most welcome |

Hi Groy, wow I was shocked to see some movement on the n-Track thread!!!
I have had general stability problems with recent builds of n_Track, but nothing specific to Jamstix.
I find build 1846 to be the best for my system.
I have no problems leaving the JS GUI open and still clicking in the n-Track timeline or mixer window.
Not sure what to suggest... sorry.

Thanks for the reply there RichLum, by the way your how to use doco was a contributing factor to me buying both ntrack and jamstix.....besides the fact that you just cant rely on drummers (either to turn up or play in time)
I can leave the gui to jamstix open and its fine. It seems to be if I hit certain drop down boxes in the jamstix gui...everything keeps running..it keeps playing whatever spectacular rhythm I have asked for whether its free jam or manual....but the mouse just doesnt work in either ntrack or the jamstix gui....any ways I will have a play with it when I get home tonight, see what else I can work out. Could be that I am doing something extremely nooblike. |

Groy, can you identify a specific drop-down box that seems to produce this behavior?
Also, what JS version is shown in the ABOUT tab? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Gday Ralph, first let me apologise as my responses on the forum may be somewhat delayed as I am accessing it from work in Oz. Differing Timezones and the unfortunate need to actually do some work will therefore cause a delay. Also my daw is on my new home machine which I only get to play with after work.
Second let me thank you for the amazing personalised support. Exceptional!
OK..as far as identifying a specific drop down box, I have had the lock ups occur while Jamstix was playing and I am attempting to change various settings. I know it has happened in a few different areas. One is the Character drop down in the Control box on the Jam Tab. I think it may be when you click the drop down arrow but do not select an option from the list but click the arrow to close the drop down box. It appears to leave the focus on the contents of the drop down and this seems to render any more mouse clicking inneffective, either in jamstix or the host.
I will have to get back to you about the JS version, but seeing as I downloaded it only a few days ago after purchasing I would have though that it would be the most recent build....but I will check that out as soon as I can.
Cheers and thanks
Groy |

I can confirm your observations. There are a few listboxes that keep the focus when closed, which causes the problem with n-Track.
We'll have that fixed in a new beta in a few moments. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| I am new to Jamstix and have a problem. When I go to Track->Midi there is no option for VSTI. How do I get N-Track to recognize my VSTI's and/or Jamstix? Thanks! BTW, I am using N-Track version 4.2.1 2098. |

Please look at 'Setting Up Jamstix In n-Track' in the Rayzoon Library. Let us know if that doesn't help. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi folks,
I'm a new JamStix user, but a very old n-Track user, and I'm helping Flavio Antonioli run a songwriting contest over at fasoft.com. There are some nice prizes from PSP, Manytone, Soundclick, and n-Track, of course. I thought I'd let you all know, since there is so much good music here.
More information can be found on the n-Track forum, in the n-Track music thread:
http://ntrack.com/ntrackforum/
Or here:
http://ntrack.com/contest/
Also, I'd be very grateful to anyone who'd listen to my first and second attempts to use JamStix, "Buddy's Big Green Van" and "Never Leave Home" respectively:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=643221
A vast improvement over my wretched drumming.
Peace,
Tom Spademan |

I'm new to Jamstix, recently purchased the latest version along with the metal pack. I think it's a great program! Ok, my pc is dual core at 2.4Ghz with 2 Gigs of ram; XP Pro; SP3 and running the latest Ntrack build not the beta. I have a couple issues going on;
(1) upon start up I have the .dll error of updating add/or moving it, I followed the guidelines posted in the troubleshooting threads, and it was resolved at one point, but it appeared upon the next reboot. It doesn't seem to interfere with the plugin just a nuisance.
(2) When I'm composing a song, and I'm adding new parts to follow or procede a section, the drop down arrows seem not to respond to the coresponding actions such as "add new part after" or "before" when refering to copying and pasting a part. Sort of like I don't have enough ram, everything starts running slow or stuttery. Sometimes it will clear after shutting down Ntrack and restarting, but often I have to reboot my pc.
Thanks |
